Black Friday, January 4th, 2013 Dunalley, Tasmania, Australia. It was a day of record hot temperatures, 41.8° in the capital Hobart, 100 Tasmanian properties were lost to bush fires, and of those, 65 were in the small seaside town of Dunalley (population about 310). Nearby to Dunalley, on December 3rd, 1642, Abel Tasman’s expedition briefly fluttered the Dutch flag and claimed the land for the Netherlands in the name of Prince Frederick Hendrick.
