1. LUKE RYAN (possible actors) Name: Phillip Ross Age: 21 A friend of mine who is easily accessible and will be around for filming all year around. Ideal to play Luke because he is the perfect age to play my role and also has the urban look which will mean that when he is acting it will be a lot easier to play the role since he can just act similarly to how he would be in real life. Name: Channing Tatum Age: 31 Tatum is an American actor best known for roles in films such as the sports drama ‘Coach Carter’ and the romantic film ‘Dear John’. The latter role in particular drew my attention to Tatum for being an ideal actor to play Luke because we have seen that he can play a role where there is a need to show strong emotions and connect with the audience, this is something which is key for Luke to accomplish. ? Name: Sam Riley Age: 31 Riley would bring an urban look to Luke, the British actor has appeared in the low-budget British film ‘Brighton Rock’ where he played a gritty role with a lot of passion and emotion. With my film being low-budget and British produced it would be ideal for Riley to be Luke as he is fairly unknown and would not demand a lot of money for the role, where as Channing Tatum would. Name: Jack O’Connell Age: 21 An up and coming young British actor who has appeared more on TV rather than cinematic performances. However, his impressive display in teen drama ‘Skins’ where he had to play a role which was very similar to himself in real life with the ups and downs of teen life, including drugs and romance. O’Connell would appeal to a young generation of cinema-goers and would therefore be ideal to play the role of Luke Ryan in my urban Romantic Drama.
2. lukeryan(costume) The opening scene begins with Luke emerging from Wandsworth prison, for this reason I have decided to make him wear a grey tracksuit to represent what it would have been like in prison with everyone wearing mundane uniform and looking exactly the same because of what they were wearing. The mood of my film is fairly gritty and dark, so the grey colour of his outfit adds to the atmosphere being created in my trailer. Luke will also wear something similar to this when he is running on the common. This outfit is the second of three that we will see Luke appear in. He will be wearing this jacket during a scene with his best mate as they catch up and discuss their futures on a bench in a park. The jacket symbolises the time of year as it is going to be near to winter when this film is set and it will be rather cold. The quality of the jacket will evidently be fairly cheap to symbolise the economic state of Luke since he has recently come out of prison. This final outfit will be worn by Luke during a scene with his friends around a table which will be in black and white to symbolise the event being in the past. The top is a white vest which will perhaps show the audience the relaxed and informal nature of this meeting around the table. The images will show the audience that the meeting between the friends id not just social it is in fact to discuss the trafficking of drugs and the equal distribution of money between the group. For this reason, the emphasis on Luke’s clothing which is a vest and some worn-out dreams will represent his lack of wealth and add to the urban nature of Luke and of the film itself.
3. Stacey greene(Possible actresses) Name: Jaime Winstone Age: 26 British actress born in Camden Town having appeared in two urban low-budget films in ‘Anuvahood’ and ‘Kidulthood’, she is an ideal candidate to be the actress to play Stacey. Winstone looks the age which I am aiming to portray with my main character being a young single mum with a child of 3 years. Her performance in ‘Kidulthood’ in particular showed to me that she can bring emotion and passion into a role and engage the audience. ? Name: Kara Tointon Age: 28 Tointon is best known for her performances spanning 4 years in British soap ‘Eastenders’. She would bring glamour to the role of Stacey and would bring experience from playing a role on TV where she must act out real life dramatic situations and this is something which she would have to do in the plot for my film, as the problems that Tointon must act in my film are similar to those one would encounter in their real lives. Tointon has also appeared on film in British work such as ‘The Football Factory’ where she had to perform hard-hitting scenes in a gritty film. This is another reason why she would be ideal to cast for Stacey. Name: Kaya Scodelario Age: 19 At the slender age of 14, Scodelario appeared as a supporting character in teen drama ‘Skins’, she came to prominence 2 years later when she played the main female character in the same show. She had to act a very emotional part showing the strain of being a teenager, with sexual scenes and drug use. She also appeared in film in ‘Shank’ which was a low-budget, urban and British film. This in particular performance makes her ideal to cast for Stacey.
4. Stacey Greene (costume) Stacey appears in one scene during my trailer and once in the montage of shots at the end of the trailer. The costume that I have chosen her to wear during the scene where Stacey is introduced and has a speaking part, is fairly low-key and not too flash. I chose the top because there is no sign of it being very expensive and the mood of my film is fairly dark and sinister with glimmers of light and romance, for this reason the dark nature of the top suits the mood of the scene. When it comes to the jeans, they are very mundane as everyone owns a pair of blue faded jeans, this also adds to the casual outfit of Stacey. Finally, the uggs will be worn to show the comfort of Stacey in her own home as her evening is interrupted by a surprise visit from her ex, Luke Ryan.
5. Supporting Characters(Possible actors) Adam Deacon would be ideal to play the supporting role to Luke Ryan in my film. In the trailer Deacon’s character is trying to convince Ryan to turn back to his old lifestyle dominated by drugs and sex. Therefore, the urban nature of Deacon would bring the perfect charisma and characteristics that I would want to be portrayed. Deacon has performed similar roles in ‘Shank’ and ‘Kidulthood’ and ‘Adulthood’. During my trailer there is a scene where Luke and his best mates are around a table dealing with high amounts of money. The scene is meant to be portrayed in the past, showing the audience what Luke’s past was like dealing with the money gained from dealing drugs. His accomplices are likely to be of similar ages and of similar backgrounds. For this reason I have chosen Russell Tovey and Ashley Walters to play the parts. Tovey has appeared on British Television in ‘Being Human’ and British film in ‘The History Boys’. Walters is much more accomplished in film with performances in ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’’ and ‘Anuvahood’.
