Availability Von Essen can support consultants coming to work in Trinidad
& Tobago under the following visa restrictions. All nationalities
entering Trinidad & Tobago require a visa before arriviral except:
• CAIRCOM countries: Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas,
Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica,
Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and
the Grenadines and Suriname.
• Certain EU countries: France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain,
Portugal, UK, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Belgium,
Netherlands, Luxemburg, Greece, Cyprus & Malta.
• British Commonweath Countries, excluding: Australia,
Cameroon, India, Mozambique, Nigeria, New Zealand,
Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and
Uganda
Note: Visa restrictions can change at short notice so please review

Validity: 1 month from date of issue and can only be used once
in any 12 month period.

Solutions Available The solution available to consultants working through Von Essen
in Trinidad & Tobago is: Employed
Contract Structure Von Essen can hold a direct contract with either the end client or
the agency depending on the requirements of the agency.
Where they hold a contract with the end client the agency would
hold a separate side contract with Von Essen for their margin.
Employed consultants will hold a direct employment contract
with the Von Essen partner, which in turn holds a service contract
with Von Essen.
Registration Depending on the chosen solution the consultant will be
registered, and deregistered on leaving the country, for tax and
social security in Trinidad and Tobago or a combination of this
and their home country. This will involve registering them (or
checking current registrations) with the following agencies for full
compliance under this solution:
• Registration for Tax & Social Security
• Registration on our Partner’s Payroll
Taxation Every effort is made to ensure their solution is the most tax
efficient in relation to their status. This involves use of:
• Maximising the use of legitimate business expenses
• Using tax allowances to reduce their management fees
• Monitoring use of expenses to adjust tax retention where
necessary
Banking Services Local banking is not an essential requirement whilst operating
in Trinidad and Tobago but our partner can provide advice on
setting up a local bank account while they are working on the
project. Access to Swiss private banking is also available to our
consultants where appropriate.
