In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
To truly calculate the cost, you must consider both the cost of action and the cost of inaction not only for the near term but in the long term. Jesus calls us to a decision. Choose wisely.
Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

The people who sealed the covenant ha26 05032015
1. The People Who Sealed the Covenant
Heritage Addition church of Christ
By Jim Bradshaw
Sunday Morning, Jan. 25, 2015
Nehemiah 10
2. Neh 10:1 NKJV Now those who placed their seal on
the document were: Nehemiah the governor, the son of
Hacaliah, and Zedekiah,…
Exo 24:6-8 NKJV And Moses took half the blood and put it
in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. (7)
Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the
hearing of the people. And they said, "All that the LORD has
said we will do, and be obedient." (8) And Moses took the
blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, "This is the blood
of the covenant which the LORD has made with you
according to all these words."
3. Walk In God’s Law
Neh 10:28-29 NKJV Now the rest of the people—the
priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the
Nethinim, and all those who had separated themselves from
the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their
sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge and
understanding— (29) these joined with their brethren, their
nobles, and entered into a curse and an oath to walk in God's
Law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to
observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our
Lord, and His ordinances and His statutes:
4. Walk In God’s Law
1Jn 1:6-9 NKJV If we say that we have fellowship with
Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the
truth. (7) But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we
have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus
Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (8) If we say that
we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in
us. (9) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
5. Walking in God’s Law
1. No entering marriages with idolatrous people.
a. Deut. 7:3; Not racial but for purity reasons.
b. 2Co 6:14-18 NKJV Do not be unequally yoked
together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has
righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion
has light with darkness? (15) And what accord has
Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an
unbeliever? (16) And what agreement has the temple
of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living
God. As God has said: "I WILL DWELL IN THEM
AND WALK AMONG THEM. I WILL BE THEIR
GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE."
6. Walking in God’s Law
b. (17) Therefore "COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM
AND BE SEPARATE, SAYS THE LORD. DO NOT
TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN, AND I WILL
RECEIVE YOU." (18) "I WILL BE A FATHER TO
YOU, AND YOU SHALL BE MY SONS AND
DAUGHTERS, SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY."
2. Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy; Ex. 20:8-11
a. Sabbath Observance for Israelites (Jews) only; Ex.
31:16-18.
b. Heb 10:25 NKJV not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but
exhorting one another, and so much the more as you
see the Day approaching.
7. Walking in God’s Law
3. Planned for providing for God’s House (Neh. 10:32-34).
a. Tithes, showbread, and lives of Priest and Levites.
b. 1Co 16:2 NKJV On the first day of the week let each
one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may
prosper, that there be no collections when I come.
c. Gal 6:6 NKJV Let him who is taught the word share
in all good things with him who teaches.
d. 1Co 9:13-14 NKJV Do you not know that those who
minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple,
and those who serve at the altar partake of the
offerings of the altar? (14) Even so the Lord has
commanded that those who preach the gospel should
live from the gospel.
8. Walking in God’s Law
4. Dedication of the firstborn and first fruits; Neh. 10:35-37.
a. Exodus 13:1-13.
b. Act 26:20 NKJV but declared first to those in
Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the
region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they
should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting
repentance.
Neh 10:39 NKJV For the children of Israel and the children
of Levi shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine
and the oil, to the storerooms where the articles of the
sanctuary are, where the priests who minister and the
gatekeepers and the singers are; and we will not neglect the
house of our God.
9. Heb 9:22-24 NKJV And according to
the law almost all things are purified
with blood, and without shedding of
blood there is no remission. (23)
Therefore it was necessary that the
copies of the things in the heavens
should be purified with these, but the
heavenly things themselves with
better sacrifices than these. (24) For
Christ has not entered the holy places
made with hands, which are copies of
the true, but into heaven itself, now to
appear in the presence of God for us;
10. 2Ti 3:15-17 NKJV and that from childhood you have known
the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for
salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (16) All
Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness, (17) that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
