2. Made Righteous by Faith
Gal 2:16 NKJV knowing that a man is not justified by the
works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have
believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in
Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the
law no flesh shall be justified.
Gal 2:21 NKJV I do not set aside the grace of
God; for if righteousness comes through the
law, then Christ died in vain."
If we could be made righteous by following a
list of Do’s and Don’ts then Christ died on the
Cross for no purpose.
Eph 2:8 NKJV For by grace you have been saved through
faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
3. Made Righteous by Faith
Rom 5:6-11 NKJV For when we were still without strength,
in due time Christ died for the ungodly. (7) For scarcely for a
righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man
someone would even dare to die. (8) But God demonstrates
His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. (9) Much more then, having now been
justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through
Him. (10) For if when we were enemies we were reconciled
to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been
reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. (11) And not only
that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
4. Made Righteous by Faith
Gal 3:23-25 KJV But before faith came, we were kept under
the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be
revealed. (24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to
bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (25)
But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a
schoolmaster.
Justified
Basically it means: Just-if-I’d-never sinned.
Dikaloō – literally means to be righteous; ME
rightwise – i.e. right before God.
5. Made Righteous by Faith
Is it faith “in” or faith “of” Jesus Christ
(It makes a difference, James 2:19)
Gal 2:16 KJV Knowing that a man is not justified by the
works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we
have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the
faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the
works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
2Co 5:21 NKJV For He made Him who knew no sin to be
sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in
Him.
6. Made Righteous by Faith
Rom 3:21-26 KJV But now the righteousness of God without
the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the
prophets; (22) Even the righteousness of God which is by
faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe:
for there is no difference: (23) For all have sinned, and come
short of the glory of God; (24) Being justified freely by his
grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (25)
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in
his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins
that are past, through the forbearance of God; (26) To
declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be
just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
7. Made Righteous by Faith
Is it faith “in” or faith “of” Jesus Christ (It makes a difference)
Gal 2:16 KJV Knowing that a man is not justified by the
works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we
have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the
faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the
works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Pisteōs Iēsou Christou – is “faith of Jesus Christ.”
Jud 1:3 KJV Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto
you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write
unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for
the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
8. Gal 2:17-18 NKJV "But if, while we seek to be justified by
Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore
a minister of sin? Certainly not! (18) For if I build again
those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
We cannot be Righteous and keep on Sinning
1Jn 5:18 ESV We know that everyone who has been born of
God does not keep on sinning (PAI), but he who was born of
God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.
9. We cannot regain what we
destroy
If we live in sin we tear down
our house with God, a house
that cannot be built back by
ourselves; Rom. 3:10
Act 8:21-22 NKJV You have neither part nor portion in this
matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. (22)
Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if
perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
11. We Must live to God
Gal 2:19-21 KJV For I through the law am dead to the law,
that I might live unto God. (20) I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the
life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son
of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (21) I do
not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the
law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Php 1:21 NKJV For to me, to
live is Christ, and to die is gain.
12. We Must live to God
Rom 6:7-8 NKJV For he who has died has been freed from
sin. (8) Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall
also live with Him,
13. We Must Crucify the flesh
Gal 5:24 NKJV And those who are Christ's have crucified
the flesh with its passions and desires.
14. For Christ to LIVE in US…
WE Must live by the FAITH of the Son of God
Gal 2:20-21 KJV I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I
live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now
live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who
loved me, and gave himself for me. (21) I do not frustrate the
grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ
is dead in vain.
15. Rom 6:3-6 NKJV Or do you not know that as many of us as
were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
(4) Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into
death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory
of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
(5) For if we have been united together in the likeness of His
death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His
resurrection, (6) knowing this, that our old man was crucified
with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that
we should no longer be slaves of sin.
