OpenDarwin is a freely available open source operating system based on Darwin and Mach kernels. The goal of OpenDarwin is to increase collaboration between Apple developers and open source communities by providing an independent version of Darwin. Apple benefits from incorporated development and the community benefits from control over the OS. The OpenDarwin project uses CVS for source code management and is independent of Apple though aims for compatibility. It seeks contributors to all aspects including its core team.
