  2. 2. 2 1. Watch the Deb Roy TED talk (0:00 – 11:00 min). When might “error correction” be taking place and how?
  3. 3. Answer Correction of error is an important aspect of instruction. Error correction takes place after detecting errors in transmitted messages and reconstructing the original error-free data. Correcting learners’ errors is necessary in order to help them improve their skills. Teachers and parents must foster an environment in the classroom and at home that is forgiving of mistakes and encouraging of risks. 3
  4. 4. 4 2. Watch the entire video by Dr Limbacher - Riebold. How do we process acquisition and learning differently?
  5. 5. Answer Acquisition is without conscious efforts. For example, we acquire our mother tongue, and any language we may learn in our early childhood, other than mother tongue. On the other hand, learning (a language or anything) is to make conscious efforts to be skilled. Learning forces anyone to make conscious efforts to know the aspects of a language you may not understand without being told. 5
  6. 6. 6 3. Do you teach what you believe? What do you believe about Communicative Language Learning and student success in learning a language?
  7. 7. Answer I believe that teachers in communicative classroom will find themselves talking less and more becoming active facilitators of their student’s learning. The students do most of the speaking, and frequently the scene in a classroom during a communicative exercise is active. Due to the increased responsibility to participate, learners may find they gain confidence in using the target language in general. They are more responsible managers of their own learning. 7
