2. • In a dystopian future, Dredd, the most famous judge (a cop with instant field
judiciary powers) is convicted for a crime he did not commit while his
murderous counterpart escapes.
• Distributed by guild films, guild films that distribute & market a varied amount
of films from huge Hollywood films, such as terminator 2, judge dredd, to art
house and independent films
• The distribution company firstly gets sent the script, with some of the stars
already included, also the director and producer.
3. • In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act
as judge, jury and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take
down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO.012.
• Distributed by Entertainment Film, Entertainment films, who are the
leading distributor for independent films, making films such
as, Romeo & Juliet, One chance, Sunshine on Leith etc.
• Lionsgate was also a distributer for Dredd. They also distribute
‘Hollywood films’ such as I, Frankenstein , Repentance The Hunger
Games- Catching fire etc.
4. Judge dredd used the star Sylvester Stallone as
a large marketing strategy, throughout the
trailer and movie, we see his face far too much.
The comic fan’s who were, most likely the
distributors main target market, saw that judge
dredd betrayed this important aspect of the comic,
we never see Dredds’s face in the comic, he keeps
an enigmatic persona fighting for justice! This was
the main reason why Judge dredd was such a flop!
The director
and producers
for Dredd
noticed this
past mistake
and took the
comic
structure to
the movie, to
help attract
5. Both films used different strategies of
marketing Judge dredd prepared a classic type
of marketing where they highlighted the star
as their main selling point, while making the
whole film into a huge event .
They used merchandise, such as tshirts, toys , posters etc. To help sell
the film also make quick
profit, comic fans might not like the
film, however im sure, they’ll buy
the ‘limited edition’ merchandise
6. The marketing companies
consistently research the
types of audience and what
they want. Because it was
1995, distributers would do
random calls to people and
ask what they think about the
film (Judge DREDD).

9. I think both of these films
support..
That represents a Hero who ‘ rises up’, he is traditionally male and
western, also the villain is either foreign /rebellious, most of the
time talking in a foreign accent, Russian, Asian etc. The hero is
always trying to the protect the people or a women, who
traditionally the lesser character, in distress or trying to help the
‘brave, strong’ male hero. ‘All for the good of the empire’ in some /
trying to keep the peace’ in his own way and does in some intense
and dramatic way, that keeps the audience guessing, however in a
predictable and familiar way, that keeps the audience interested.
This is how most
Films work..
10. Dredd was a massive
flop in the U.S, however
made large sells in other
countries like the
U.K, many people buy
the disc from supplier
such as Amazon, this
may act as an incentive
for producers to put
money towards a sequel
however unlikely.
