Tché Dillahi is an interactive narrative project that aims to document indigenous American culture through metaphor and mythology. It will use the migratory patterns of Native American peoples to populate North America as a way to look at how they understood their environment. The project draws parallels between human migration patterns and natural branching structures. It will be presented as an installation with three layers, including a geodesic dome representing a turtle shell and depictions of turtle migration across seven continents.

Computational models of cognition can have explanatory power when they are structurally valid models of the natural systems that inspired them. The document discusses different approaches to modeling knowledge in cognitive architectures and humans. It analyzes how ACT-R, CLARION, and LIDA represent concepts, and suggests that humans likely use heterogeneous representations including prototypes, exemplars, and other conceptual structures. Models should account for this heterogeneity to better explain human cognition.

Project Unity is a platform that will host all phenotype-to-genotype public-domain data in a common and unified platform, offered as a free service for academia. Each researcher will be able to load their data and connect it to existing global knowledge, by linking traits to ontology, markers to genetic/physical maps and germplasms to pedigree and their sources. Initially, each dataset is stored privately, and can only be accessed by the researcher comparing his results to public ones. Data is made public once the researcher decides to do so typically after the publication of the corresponding scientific paper.

The school lunch program was implemented in 1946 by President Truman to monitor and enhance children's health by encouraging healthier lifestyle choices. The program requires that lunches contain no more than 30% calories from fat, 10% from saturated fat, and provide 1/3 of certain dietary requirements. Some schools have opted out of the program due to difficulties following requirements and higher costs, but over 101,000 schools participate serving over 5 billion lunches to 31 million students each year.

This document discusses challenges with the current state of health informatics, including a lack of integration of medical databases, limited availability of patient information, and gaps in standards. It proposes that next generation health informatics could address these issues by providing accurate and private patient information across all levels of care in a timely manner through approaches that are interdisciplinary, cost effective, and focus on research, education, collaboration, and personalized healthcare.
Eigenvalues of Symmetrix Hierarchical MatricesThomas Mach
The document summarizes the classification of eigenvalue problems for symmetric hierarchical matrices. It discusses that hierarchical matrices can be used to approximate dense matrices, such as those from boundary element or finite element methods, in a data-sparse way. Eigenvalue algorithms for symmetric hierarchical matrices must exploit the special structure of these matrices.
The Center of Excellence in Cancer Research (CECR) was established in June 2013 at Tanta University Educational Hospital in Egypt. It is directed by Dr. Mohamed L. Design and generation of Linked Clinical Data Cube (Semantic Stats 2013)Laurent Lefort
This document discusses generating linked clinical data cubes from the Australian Imaging Biomarkers and Lifestyle study. Originally the data was collected and stored in CDISC ODM format, which is difficult for researchers to explore. The authors propose converting the data to RDF data cubes and nested data cubes using the RDF Data Cube and DDI-RDF vocabularies to allow for flexible slicing and analysis of the data. This addresses challenges around the complex study structure and sensitive patient data. Remaining issues include handling missing data and implementing access controls when querying multiple linked data cubes.

Big Databases and Outcome Research - Opportunities and Challenges for Radiati...Andre Dekker
The document discusses opportunities and challenges for using big data and outcomes research in radiation oncology. It notes that large datasets can help predict patient outcomes better through rapid learning healthcare. However, a main challenge is that oncology data is spread across many hospitals globally. Proposed solutions include both centralized and distributed methods to pool data while addressing ethical, political, and technical issues. Specific challenges for radiation oncology include accounting for genomic, imaging, and treatment data in predictive models.
The document discusses the editing process for a teaser trailer using Final Cut Pro. Key points:
- Footage was imported into Final Cut Pro and arranged on a timeline where it could be edited.
- Audio transitions like cross fades were used to fade music in and out rather than abrupt starts and ends. Video transitions like dissolves were also used.
- The timeline shows where in the project the editor is working and includes video and audio clips with transitions between them.
- Some issues around lines appearing in the video are being troubleshot, but overall the editing process is going well.
The document describes the process of creating a magazine front cover by following the conventions of the Prometheus and Empire magazine covers. Some of the key steps taken were:
1) Using Photoshop to create the cover and selecting an image from the film's teaser trailer background like the Prometheus cover.
2) Having issues matching the font of "EMPIRE" so a similar font was used instead.
3) Struggling to place letters behind the character's head but overcoming it using the pen tool and duplicating layers.
4) Placing the film title around the character's torso area like the Prometheus cover and choosing red to make it stand out against the costume.

After receiving feedback that his initial film poster design was too simplistic, the document describes the creator's process of iteratively improving the poster over three drafts. The first draft consisted of a full-page image with text at the bottom. Subsequent drafts added more details about the film and credits. The final version included an additional message to get viewers thinking like the trailer. Consistent colors of red, green, and white were used across drafts and other promotional materials to ensure visual cohesion.
The document discusses how the media product follows and challenges conventions of teen drama genres. It follows conventions such as focusing on the struggles of teenage characters in an educational setting and making the characters relatable. However, it challenges conventions by focusing on two characters and their relationship rather than a friend group, using slow-paced nostalgic music rather than rapid cutting, and leaving the release date ambiguous rather than stated to generate interest. Overall the media product draws on familiar teen drama elements while adapting them to tell a more intimate story between two characters.
The document discusses how the media product follows and challenges conventions of real teen dramas. It follows conventions such as focusing on the struggles of teenage characters in an educational setting and making the characters relatable. However, it challenges conventions by focusing only on two main characters rather than a friend group, using minimal props, and having a slower-paced musical score aimed at evoking nostalgia rather than excitement. The goal was to provide insight into the downfall of the two characters' relationship in a realistic yet unconventional way.

Distribution partners could include Revolver Entertainment, known for similar films focused on teenagers and gangs. Through the process, the student learned skills with video editing software and group collaboration.

The document summarizes a film project focused on a gang genre. It describes establishing the setting of an interrogation room to grab the audience's attention. It discusses choosing actors that fit the roles of young black gang members and including some girls. The costumes help emphasize the characters' moods, like the leader wearing all black. The film includes scenes of characters planning a setup that leads to someone getting rushed. The film would appeal to a black Afro-Caribbean male audience ages 14-25, who are most at risk of gang involvement in London. The filmmaker learned the importance of coordination, listening skills, and careful editing.

Trusting God's Providence | Verse: Romans 8: 28-31JL de Belen
Trusting God's Providence.
Providence - God’s active preservation and care over His creation. God is both the Creator and the Sustainer of all things Heb. 1:2-3; Col. 1:17
-God keep His promises.
-God’s general providence is toward all creation
- All things were made through Him
God’s special providence is toward His children.
We may suffer now, but joy can and will come
God can see what we cannot see

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

2. Buildings
The Bank of America Plaza which is a skyscraper situated in Atlanta , Georgia. The
building itself is referred to as being postmodern because it has quite a few
similar characteristics to the Messeturm which was built from 188-1990 In
Frankfurt Germany whilst the Bank of America Plaza was built from 1991-1992.
The Messeturm is seen as being postmodern due to the fact that the structure
of the building consists of various geometric shapes which helps to produce a
pencil shaped building which is unconventional, unique . Whilst on the other
hand what makes The Bank of America postmodern is that it was designed in a
modern Art Deco style meaning its shaped in a modern style and is glamorous
which is evident in The Bank of America Plaza the spire is made of 23 karat
gold leaf which shines at night which make s a statement differentiates this
building from others around it.
3. Music
Mf Doom is a hip hop artist who’s material consists of samples sections from
Doctor Doom television shows and adds them to either the opening or closing
of his tracks e.g. ‘Beef Rapp’ a song off of an lp called ‘mm food’ this song in
particular he samples a part of an episode from Doctor Doom the cartoon
show its tweaked and runs through the whole song .
http://youtu.be/3yJW9850XWg
http://youtu.be/E_7O7emrF6A
UGK sample an Isley brothers song called ’ Between the sheets’ in their song
called ‘Crampin’ my style’
Which makes both of these examples postmodern is that both sets of artists are
borrowing material which dates decades prior to their work and add the dated
music into their own work.
4. Cinema
The Matrix trilogy is an example of a postmodern film because it’s intertextual
it references philosophical theories such as ‘Descartes evil demon’ as well as
religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism, It’s also fair to say that the film also
blurs the distinction between fiction and reality the characters are capable of
doing things that in reality are impossible.
Blade Runner is also an example of a postmodern film as it’s also intertextual
as the film is based on the book ‘Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheeps’,the
film is set in the future and the use of advanced technology also shows how the
film is unconventional.
5. Television Programmes
Family Guy is an example of postmodern tv because it references other shows
such as The Simpsons and Futurama with irony as well as blurring the
distinction between fiction and reality e.g. Bryan the dog is able to talk and
engage with humans as if he is one and Stewie who is a baby is able to
communicate well ahead of his years.
The Cleveland show is postmodern because its intertextual meaning it
references similar themes as shows such as South Park, Family Guy etc e.g.
Dysfunctional families and ironic and stereotypical statements.
6. Adverts
<iframe width="560" height="315"
src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Ubf28LPnfYs" frameborder="0"
allowfullscreen></iframe>
What makes this Specsavers advert postmodern is that it’s in black white which
makes it intertextual,e.g the music used in the advert is old and is also in
another language. I’d also say that it's ironic the farmer sending the dog off
with the sheep is done deliberately to identify that he’s done something wrong.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/R55e-
uHQna0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
This advert is postmodern as it’s intertextual throughout, the music is from
Starwars and the child who is dressed as Darth Vader feels as though he ‘has the
force’. The advert is ironic as the child who thinks he has telekinesis isn’t able to
move anything these actions are humorous.
