4. Have you ever heard the parable of the long spoons?
A man visited Hell and was surprised by what he found.
Men and women were sitting at a table of delicious food. THey were
holding long spoons in their hands, but their arms were tied to their
sides, so they couldnât bring the food to their mouths.
There they stayed, tortured and starving as they smelled and looked
at delicious food that they could not eat.
He was surprised even further when he went to Heaven.
Yet again, there was a table full of food and people whose arms
were tied to their sides. But these people were using the long
spoons to feed each other.
Each of us will go through trials. We donât choose our circumstances, but we do
chose our reactions. Will we turn inward, or outward and upward? Only one
way leaves you Full.
5. Christ has suffered for all â That they might not suffer if they repent.â We donât
need to suffer eternal punishment.
His âspoonâ of mercy is extended to all who simply reach out to Him.
As Elder Maxwell state, âwe will end up either choosing Christâs manner of living or
His manner of suffering! It is either â suffer even as Iâ (D&C 19:16-17), or
overcome âeven as (HE)... overcame (Revelations 3:21)â

âTo eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of God is, first, to accept
him in the most literal and full sense, with no reservation whatever, as the
personal offspring in the flesh of the Eternal Father; and, secondly, it is to
keep the commandments of the Son by accepting his gospel, joining his
Church, and enduring in obedience and righteousness unto the end.
Those who by this course eat his flesh and drink his blood shall have
eternal life, meaning exaltation in the highest heaven of the celestial world.

Revelation continues to flow from the Lord during this ongoing process of restoration.
What does it mean for you that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth?
It means that you and your family can be sealed together forever! It means that because you have been baptized by
one who has authority from Jesus Christ and have been confirmed a member of His Church, you can enjoy the
constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. He will guide and protect you. It means you will never be left
comfortless or without access to the power of God to help you. It means that priesthood power can bless you as you
receive essential ordinances and make covenants with God and keep them.
What an anchor to our souls are these truths, especially during these times when the tempest is raging.

74. WHAT IS YOUR BIRTHRIGHT?
Study the covenants of Israel.
75. Firstborn, In the patriarchal order, the
firstborn son is the heir and inherits the
leadership of the family upon the death of
the father.
The eldest son receive a double portion of
this fatherâs possession and after his
fatherâs death, he was responsible for the
mother and sisters.
76. If dad has four sons,his estate is divided into five equal shares. All the sons
receive a portion, but the eldest, who has the birthright, receive two- a double
portion.
The three younger brothers leave with their portions, but the eldest doesnât go
anywhere because with his extra portion comes added responsibility.
He is expected to care for his mother and provide dowries so his sister can be
properly married.
Even after his mother and sisters are gone, he will stay to govern the affairs of
his fatherâs estate .
Of course he will marry and have his own family, but he will spend the rest of his
life fulfilling his birthright responsibilities.
77. Today we do not live in the same way as Old
Testament families, but members of the Church have a
similar birthright.
We have received an â extra portionâ temporally and
spiritually.
It has nothing to do with our birth order in our earthly
families or our gender, as it did anciently. It has
everything to do with our place in Godâs eternal family.
