Managing media industry websites the Drupal way

                 The needs of the media industry in regards to web presence are fairly standard. They
                 want great look and feel along with excellent functionality. Digital content creation and
                 management, along with monetization are some important and focused activities of a
                 media company online.
                 Media industry CMS needs range from using event calendars to integrating with social
                 media, as well as leveraging polls, surveys, video and contest promotions, video shows,
                 live telecasts, photo galleries, online payment integration, and other consumer
                 interaction features. All of this is handled extremely well by Drupal, although it’s not the
                 only CMS available. However, Drupal seems to be the top choice of web development
                 teams all around the world when it comes to working with the media industry.
                 What works in Drupal’s favor is that many large and mid-sized media companies
                 currently use it for their web needs, and it has gained a lot of momentum in the
                 publishing and media world. Drupal also has a long, successful track record of adapting
                 to the specific needs of the publishing industry. Some of the advantages that I can think
                 of include:

                  1. Quick prototyping of websites

                  2. Availability of modules specific to media industry

                  3. Social media integration facilities

                  4. Availability of 3rd party community developed modules specific to the media industry

                  5. Highly scalable and can be deployed in any network architecture, allowing millions
                       of users to access the website
                 To support my case, here are some high profile names in the media industry that use
                 Drupal: InfoWorld, Grammy, Radio Netherlands Worldwide, Australian Broadcasting
                 Company, CNN, BBC, Reuters, Onion, NowPublic, TeamSugar, Fox Searchlight, and
                 many more.
