Did you know that more than half the body's muscles
are designed for walking?
Walking is a safe, low-impact
exercise for almost everyone.
One of the best things about
walking is that you don't need
any training! Walking comes
naturally and will make you feel
better, have more energy, and
sleep better.
Walking can also improve your mental health, partly
because it can help reduce stress. Some people
enjoy walking alone because it provides a quiet time
to relax and reflect. Others prefer to walk with a
friend or a walking group. They enjoy the social
contact, lively conversation, and the chance to get to
know friends.Walking every day has a direct positive
effect on your health.
Many people walk for health benefits but there are
very few people who walk to spread messages of

love and harmony in society. Sri M, founder of Manav
Ekta Mission is one among such great souls. He
began his ‘Walk of Hope’ from Kanyakumari to
Kashmir on Monday, 12th Janauary 2015 to spread
the message of peace, secularism and unity,
transcending religious, racial, cultural and ideological
differences.
Sri M is fond of Mysuru and has conducted many
programmes under Vijay Foundation’s banner. His
first talk “Wisdom of the Rishis” organised by the
Foundation on 11th January 2012 was well received
and the auditorium was packed to its capacity. Later
he conducted a weeklong “Bhagavatha Sapthaha” in
September 2012 and talk on Bhakthi Yoga in
September 2013.
This padayatra will be covering 6500 kms from
Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Led by Sri M, the journey
spans 15 -18 months through 11 Indian states,
bringing together citizens from all walks of life.
“Walk of Hope” will be arriving at Mysuru on 19th of
March 2015. Sri M will be conducting satsanghs on
19th and 20th evenings and leaving for Srirangapatna
on 21st morning.
We Mysoreans are fortunate to have Walk of Hope in
Mysuru and it is our responsibility to join him in good
numbers to spread the message of harmony, peace
and love.
In this issue we have covered more details on “Walk
of Hope”. Hope you will find it interesting and join us
to give a grand reception to “Walk of Mysuru
(Hope)” in Mysuru.

The Walk of Hope has started on 12 January 2015, the
birth anniversary of a great prophet of interfaith
harmony, Swami Vivekananda. Starting from the Gandhi
Memorial Mandapam in Kanyakumari and concluding in
Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, this initiative will reach out
to 10 million fellow Indians.
Walk of Hope is a padayatra for peace and harmony by
the Manav Ekta Mission – covering 6500 kms from
Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Led by Sri M, founder of
Manav Ekta Mission, the journey spans 15-18 months
through 11 Indian states, bringing together citizens from
all walks of life.
The padayatra will cover 15-20 kms a day and halt in the
evening at a pre-determined village or town enroute.
The evening will be spent meeting with the local
populace – which will include meaningful dialogues,
inter-faith prayers, eating together and, ?nally, resting
overnight at their homes. A diverse assembly of
responsible citizens, who foresee a united and inclusive
India for themselves and the future generations, will
accompany Sri M in this walk.
The Walk of Hope is an exercise to restore the innate
spirituality of the nation – rekindling true faith and
rejuvenating the spirit of hope, love, peace, harmony
and oneness. The hope is to erase disparities arising from
a misunderstanding of our diverse culture and religions,
thus uniting the humanity of India through a spiritual
approach proving people can live together despite all
differences. You can join or step out at any place or time
as you wish, during the walk.
The Objectives of Walk of Hope
The Objectives of Walk of Hope address the six crucial
areas of social co-existence in India , that will help us
achieve lasting peace and harmony.
Interfaith Harmony – Initiatives that promote and
nurture interfaith unity, harmony and the message of
oneness.
The emphasis is on
enabling and nurturing
dialogues between
communities, regardless
of their faith, through
education, advocacy and
community-wide events. Faith should function as a tool
for peace, rather than division and marginalization.
Equality for All – Enabling equality for all, irrespective of
caste, creed, religion, language and gender. Such equality
provides protection to
i n d i v i d u a l s a g a i n s t
discrimination and the
right to be treated with
respect and dignity in the
society.
Sustainable Living –
Activities inspiring harmony with nature to energise our
immediate eco-systems. The initiatives envisage working
closely with governments, businesses and local
communities to facilitate sustainable living. The campaign
will encapsulate a mode of
living where we live within
the innate carrying capacity
of the planet.
Women Empowerment –
Programs that engender
empowerment and safety of women and their safety. The
strategy is to educate
and thus empower
women to ensure they
have a significant role in
governance, public
dialogue and decisions
