5. “HISTORY”
Origins.
Lakki was first called by the name of “Thal Daman”,
which means an open sandy plain. There are three
different stories about the "Lakki" part of the District's
name.
1. One story says that long ago a battel was fought
between the Marwat tribe and Wazir and Marwat tribe
started to unite an army. The army was huge enough
that people say almost 1 Lac Marwat. Then the word
"Lac" become Lakki therefore, it is called Lakki
Marwat.

2.Another story links this name to one Lakki Ram or
Lukko Ram, a Hindu trader who is considered to be the
original founder of this town. Yet another source claims
that the town was initially known as Ihsan Pur.The
second part of the District’s name comes from the
warrior tribe of Marwat who has inhabited the entire
area for several centuries.
3.Third theory about lakki marwat:
In Afghanistan a tribe was living in about 1556 the name
of the tribe is Marwat tribe, during the Akbar-e-Azam
Lord time about 1556–1605.
7. CLIMATE
The region has all the characteristics of a desert due
to its sand dunes, scorching heat and dry weather.
Summers are very hot, while winters are moderately
cool. The summer season begins from early April and
continues till late October. June is the hottest month
with a maximum temperature range of 42 to 45
Degree Celsius and a minimum temperature range of
about 30 to 35 Degree Celsius.
Rainfall is very rare and sporadic and generally
occurs in July and August.

9. AREA.
Lakki Marwat is one of the southern districts of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan. It was created as an
administrative district on July 1, 1992, prior to which it
was a tehsil of Bannu District.
Area: 3,164 km²
Population: 876,182 (2017).
Province: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Number of Tehsils: 2.
11. CULTURE
The man's dress in the lakki marwat areas is a turban
(Pagrhi). long loose tunic or "kamees" and loose long
trousers or "lang" drawn tightly above the ankles. A
sheet is also worn as a plaid called "chadar" over the
shoulders as a waistcoat.

13. FAMOUS FOOD
PAINDA.
Painda’ is a Pashto word that means “a group of
people sitting together”. It is a dish typical to
Pakhtuns, specifically those from Lakki Marwat,
Bannu and Karak. It’s also called Sohbut in some
other areas of KPK. Besides its unparalleled taste,
the dish is famous for the style in which it is served.
The serving dish for painda is always a very large one
(also known as a thaal), and everyone eats from the
same dish. This reflects the love and unity that is
characteristic to Pakhtun culture.
15. SOHAN HALWA
It is made by boiling a mixture of water, sugar, milk,
and cornflour until it becomes solid. Saffron is used
for flavoring. Ghee is used to prevent it from sticking
to the pan. Almonds, pistachios, and cardamom
seeds are added

•Irfanullah Khan Marwat, a politician based in Karachi.
Member of the Sind Assembly and former Minister for transport,
health, home, education and mines & mineral development.
•Anwar Kamal Khan, former senator, Provincial Senior
Minister and a former member of the Provincial Assembly of
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
•Anwar Saifullah Khan, a former DMG officer,
Deputy Commissioner and Commissioners, currently a
member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa, and three times a federal minister.

One of the largest export houses of Pakistan, Lucky
