• A potentially unwanted program is a
piece of software that is also
downloaded when a user downloads a
specific program or application.
• Generally, PUPs have undesirable
effects on a user's computer. Once
downloaded, a PUP may run various
background processes that slow the
computer down, or it may display
numerous annoying advertisements.
• Most often, PUPs are downloaded and
installed with legitimate applications,
and users are unaware of these
additional installations because they
do not read agreements thoroughly.
3. PHISHING
• to “fish” for passwords and personal inform
ation by trickery on internet. (Sometimes b
y setting up aphony URL which people sig
n in to by giving their passwords or credit
card numbers.)
4. IDENTITY THEFT
• is a “trick”which involves stealing money or
gaining other benefits by pretending to be
someone else.
WARNING SIGNS:
• You get an email, SMS or a phone call out of the blue
asking you to ‘validate’ or ‘confirm’ banking details.
• You notice that amounts of money go missing from your
bank account without any explanations.
• The caller pushes you to provide personal information and
discourages you from checking if it’s a genuine request.
• You are unable to obtain credit or a loan because of an
sudden bad credit rating.
5. NEVER send money or give personal details to people
you don’t know and trust!!!
