In March 2014, The Institute of World Politics announced that it would offer new Certificates in Corporate Statecraft and Conflict Prevention. The latter Certificate will focus on the various ways in which civil conflicts, at inter-tribal and international levels, can be identified and prevented.

3. Speaking about the Conflict Prevention
Certificate program, Institute president and
founder John Lenczowski noted that the
program seeks to examine “the world the way
it really is,” without preconceptions or false
assumptions. This measured approach to
peace building avoids unrealistically defining
a “harmony of interests” between conflicting
parties, in ways that can hinder the peace
process.
4. Grounded in both theory and practice, the
IWP curriculum emphasizes a close analysis of
the connection between political structures
and human communities. Another focus is on
strategically engaging with failing and failed
states, and regions that have been torn apart
by conflict. Core challenges include stemming
radicalization and creating trust-based
relationships that allow democratic
institutions and ideals to flourish.
