5. Why need to clean Water
Freshwater pollution is the contamination
of inland water (not saline) with substances
that make it unfit for its natural or intended
use. Pollution may be caused by fecal
waste, chemicals, pesticides, petroleum,
sediment, or even heated discharges.
Polluted rivers and lakes are unfit for
swimming or fishing; polluted water is
unsafe to drink.
6. The health effects of drinking contaminated
water can range from no physical impact to
severe illness or even death.
Some of the effects of drinking contaminated
water can be immediate, or not noticed for
many years. These include gastrointestinal and
stomach illnesses like:
nausea
vomiting
CONTAMINATED WATER :
7. Engineers , scientists , researchers of
21st century have came up with new I
deas and innovations to literally CLEAN WATER.
What is the solution ?
8. Common methods of water purification
1. Carbon Filters (RO’S)
2. Ozone ( in swimming pools )
3. Ultraviolet Light (UV) Light
4. Copper-Zinc Systems (certain contaminants
are drawn toward the zinc while others with a
different charge migrate to the copper)
10. DRINKABLE BOOKS
The Drinkable Book is a two-in-one resource:
It's a manual filled with safe water tips (offered
in a variety of languages and geared toward
people who may not know their water is
contaminated), that is printed on scientifically
advanced filter paper, which kills deadly
waterborne diseases.
According to creator WATERisLIFE, each book
can provide a user with clean water for up to
four years.
11. In 2013, the University of Engineering and
Technology (UTEC) in Lima, Peru, created
#AirHuerta, an innovative advertising campaign
and billboard that takes moisture from the
humid air, and converts it into filtered drinking
water. The billboard can produce up to 26
gallons of water

like a thick straw, uses advanced hollow fiber
technology to filter water, allowing users to
simply suck water through it.

17. when and where did it happen
?
The Eschede derailment occurred on 3
June 1998, near the village of Eschede in the
Celle district of Lower Saxony, Germany,.
18. How did it happen ?
when a high-speed train derailed and crashed
into a road bridge. It remains the worst rail
disaster in the history of the
Federal Republic of Germany and the worst
high-speed-rail disaster worldwide.
THE CAUSE :-
A single fatigue crack in one wheel which,
when it failed, caused the train to derail at a
set of points
19. As the train passed over the first of two points,
the embedded tyre slammed against the guide
rail of the points, pulling it from the railway ties.
This guide rail also penetrated the floor of the
car, becoming embedded in the vehicle and
lifting the axle carriage off the rails

21. ACCIDENT STATISTICS
Passengers: 287 (ICE-1 max. is 651)
Train crew: 6
Maintenance crew: 2
Died: 101
Severe injuries: 88
Minor or no injury: 106
22. ESCEDE DERAILMENT : MAN MADE OR
NATURAL ? During the week prior to the Eschede disaster,
three separate automated checks indicated
that a wheel was defective. Investigators
discovered, from a maintenance report
generated by the train's on-board computer,
that two months prior to the Eschede disaster,
conductors and other train staff filed eight
separate complaints about the noises and
vibrations generated from the bogie with the
defective wheel. Thus it is due human
carelessness and ignorance this historical
