The opening sequence tells the
Audience that it is set in New York and the
music and editing suggests it is a thriller.
5. The slow camera movement gives us the
impression that we are watching over or
spying which adds to the intense and
dramatic atmosphere.
6. At the beginning of the sequence sound is
used to create atmosphere and show the
surroundings (use of thunder and traffic).
Throughout the opening sequence the
large buildings make us feel isolated.

creates tension.
When the title (Panic Room) appears the
music turns dissonant and crescendos to
build the tension.

there is a transition marked by this and a
cymbal crash. There is a ticking noise
which makes it more intense, the staccato
