Looking back on your Preliminary Task, What do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product? By: Danielle Pearce
Comparing Camera Use Here are my first comparative shots. Here we see my first attempt at a successful close up, however through further practical work with the camera and theoretical work with our teachers We developed our skills to create more artistic and unique shot types. For example in the first shot of these two it is apparent that the camera was so not set up correctly and the lighting was too harsh. However in the comparative shot we have exceptionally well thought out lighting plan and an extremely carefully framed camera set up and shot.
Comparing Shooting Skills Here we can compare my development of shooting skills. It is apparent through the comparison of the above that I have learnt to adapt camera angle to create more interesting shots and to allow us to create more appropriate angles to view certain characters in positive or negative light. For example the lower angle of the main project shot allows us create a more voyeuristic approach to the scene.
Comparing Theoretical Development In these two shot our work on representation can be seen. We placed our male antagonists higher in the frame, from a low angle to portray them as powerful. However in the contrasting shot, we see the female protagonist of our prelim film as a victim however from our camera angles she would not be portrayed as vulnerable because it is just a mid shot. We could have had her shot from a high angle to make her seem small and powerless.
