Towards the end of the film, we see the
character being hooked and dragged out to
sea. From this point the shots have very
short, fast edits. These were most likely to
be used to show the characters panic at
that time, creating a sense of worry &
shock in the audience.

Camera
The first shot of the film, which is one of
very few, is a realism shot of the character
walking down the beach. We see that the
beach is empty and we see no other people
at all during the entire film. I feel this implies
the character is quite a lonely and isolated
character, due to his settings, but perhaps
also his personality, as the ending could
connote that the character may be greedy
and over-curious.

The colour scheme of the
film is very neutral and
bland, perhaps showing the
blandness of the
characters life due to his
apparent isolation.

Eerie music is played from the start of the of the film and
throughout, this non-digetic sound creates an atmosphere of
almost fear and mystery for the audience and gives the
audience a hint of the genre, which is mystery and thriller.

I feel the ideology of this film is to almost criticise the
curiosity and greediness of human nature, and the fact that
the curiosity can take a turn for the worse. I also feel that is
could be a nod to the idea of people becoming ‘hooked’ or
addicted to something that comes as a surprise or is
different to your everyday life.
