Proposal details for a debating society in Greenwich

2. What is a debate?
• Debate is contention in argument; dispute, controversy; discussion;
especially the discussion of questions of public interest in Parliament
or in any assembly.

3. Proposal of a debating society
• As with my past experience, I am looking to start a debating society
within the Royal Borough of Greenwich
• Work along side Charlton Athletics Football Club, Royal Borough of
Greenwich, The Point, Local Youth Clubs, Local
Primary/secondary/Colleges
• Work with local and national government

• Hold regular debates- once a month
• Invite speakers, debaters and government officials
• Hold local/national/ International debate competitions- Annual basis
• Design a website for the debating club
• Hold debates which collects funds for charities

5. Target Audience
• My aim is to host the debating society within the borough for youths
aged 11-25
• This does not mean that anyone above the age of 25 can get involved

6. Topic categories
• I will aim to hold debates on topics which will affect our youths
including employment and education
• I will welcome suggestions from the public on topic ideas and this will
be put in a database that will be set up
