The document discusses potential filming locations for a romantic period film set in London. It proposes Greenwich for its historic streets and landmarks from wars. Greenwich could be used for romantic scenes due to its small cobbled streets. Many iconic British landmarks would make the film seem authentic. London is also proposed for its iconic landmarks like Big Ben and bridges, which are often featured in romantic films. Night scenes in London would seem particularly romantic lit up, suitable for a masquerade ball scene overlooking the Thames. The opening scene will be filmed in a large house in Chelsfield to achieve both a suburban and city feel.
2. Greenwich is another location
which will be used when filming.
Our reasoning for this is because
of the great history Greenwich
has with past wars and due to our
film being very much revolved
around the current war in
Afghanistan.
Greenwich has small cobbled
streets which I believe would
work well during romantic scenes.
The place contains many iconic,
British landmarks which make the
film seem cultural such as the
Royal Observatory, The
Greenwich Palace, The Cutty
Sark, Greenwich University, etc.
Also, the Greenwich Market
which can be used for
coincidental meetings possibly.
As this area looks very sophisticated, elegant and classy I think it would be a good place for the
dance studio to be set and so can show her commute to the studio where she will be working
and also give an impression that the studio is very professional and near Nancy’s mother house.

4. London is an easy place to get to from our location and would be
ideal for filming as it contains extremely iconic landmarks such as Big
Ben, the Tower of London, Westminster Bridge, the London Eye,
Tower Bridge, St Pauls Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and many
others. There are also many locations such as Tower Bridge which
are often seen in romantic films.
From my research, and my survey, I found that city was a favoured
place for a romance film to be set and so this determined our choice
of London.
We could use an establishing shot to set the scene possibly adding
text informing the audience on date, location, maybe even time as this
was also something that I found from my research was preferred by
the audience.
I think night scenes would seem particularly romantic for filming here
as it is all lit up, therefore I think this would work well for my
masquerade scene as this could be set in a high building with a large
terrace or balcony over looking the river Thames with iconic buildings
in the backdrop. Also, I could use this location for dinner dates and
possibly even use the London Eye for a romantic night between Will
and Nancy or even a memory between Rafe and Nancy.
Big Ben could be used as a link to the time and could possibly have a
link to the story of Cinderella as this is a particularly romantic and
famous fairy tale.

6. It is crucial for the location for the opening scene to be
significant and captivating as these needs to grab the
audiences attention immediately so they feel compelled
to watch the rest of the film.
We have decided that our opening scene is going to
filmed in a fairly, large house in Chelsfield as we want
to achieve both a Suburban and City feel to the film as
from our surveys the results showed this was preferred.
Our reason for choosing Chelsfield Hill is because it is
a fairly secluded, quiet and isolated area which we
believe we could achieve a small, community feel from
using it throughout the film. Also it’s surrounded by
greenery and field which makes it picturesque and
seem pure which we want to reflect on the main
character, Nancy. We also want the audience to get the
impression that Nancy comes from a financially
supported and secure background which we believe
would come from using this filming location.
We also believe it will be fairly easy for us to film in the
home as weather conditions won’t get in the way and
we can ask permission of the home owner fairly easily
which we have already taken care of and have been
granted the permission to film there.
