2. An Introduction to RYCECOMPTM
Biomass content: 55% - 60%
Rice husk waste from Malaysian
farms is ground to a powder.
WOODS THAT SAVE THE FUTURE…….
Plastic content: 40% - 45%
Waste PVC from Malaysia is
finely ground.
During the RyceCompTM production process the two
materials are mixed and extruded into a solid, wood like
material.
3. The Benefits of Using RyceCompTM
1. Durable, rot free, rust free, termite proof and resistant to
water, acids and alkalis.
2. Environmental benefits:
• Can be used as wood alternative, therefore reducing need
for unsustainable wood. Using 1 tonne of RyceCompTM
can save 3.3 tonnes of forest from being cut.
• Diverts biomass and plastic wastes from landfill and
therefore reduces the release of greenhouse gases.
• Waste generated during production is re-used.
• At the end of it’s life the RyceCompTM product could be
returned to the factory to be crushed and re-extruded into a
new product.

18. Wood plastic composite is manufactured with a combination of wood fiber/ flour with thermoplastic along with
minimal quantity of additives such as pigments, blowing agents, etc. The raw materials which are used for the
manufacturing of wood-plastic composite are recyclable in nature and they are obtained from industries’ . With the
increasing beneficial qualities, wood plastic composite is estimated to show a promising growth in the next five years.
The growing environmental concern has led to the increase in adoption of wood-plastic composite as it helps to
reduce deforestation. The global market is growing at a healthy rate and the market is expected to grow in the future
due to the increasing demand for decking across the globe. The wood plastic composite market is projected to grow
from $ 2579.90 million in 2014 to $4,601.7 million by 2019, with a CAGR of 12.2% between 2014 and 2019.
The wood plastic composite market is segmented by type, application, and geography. By type, the market is
segmented into four major categories, namely polyethylene, polyvinylchloride, polypropylene and other. By
application, the market consists of four categories, namely building and construction products, automotive
components, industrial & consumer goods, and others include niche products. The polyethylene segment held the
largest market share for wood-plastic composites followed by the polyvinylchloride segment. North America and Asia
are the top-two consumers of wood-plastic composites and accounted for more than 75% in 2014. The Asian region is
estimated to be the emerging market in the coming next five years. Growth is particularly high in emerging countries,
such as China, India, and Brazil because of the major contribution of building and construction area in the economy
and the increase in demand for light weight automotive components.
The higher efficiency of wood plastic composite as compared to normal wood has helped the market to grow in the
last five years. The potential of this market attracts leading companies. Companies are focusing on expansion across
regions and setting up new plants for increasing production capacity as well as strengthening the product line. The
companies are also taking efforts towards innovating new products which are eco-friendly, to overcome the restraints
