1. 8 Popular Bhajans & Aartis To Celebrate Navratri
This Year
Navratri is a major Hindu festival that is celebrated all over the world. This is also one of the oldest
events, stretching back to unimaginable ages. Navratri comes from two Sanskrit words: Nava,
which means nine, and ratri, which means night.
When we think of women, we think of their great strength and power, and Navratri is a festival of
Goddess Durga in nine different forms, each representing a different nature and force.
The Navratri tale tells of an epic battle between the strong demon Mahishasura and Goddess
Durga. Lord Brahma granted Mahishasura immortality because a woman could only conquer the
strong Mahishasura. Mahishasura assaulted the Trilokโearth, heaven, and hellโwith the benefit
of immortality and confidence. Even the Gods couldnโt overcome him since a woman could only
defeat him. The Gods pleaded to Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva for assistance in
defeating their greatest foe.
Seeing the helpless Gods, Lord Vishu decided to construct a woman to defeat Mahishasura
because only a woman can battle the demon according to Brahmaโs blessing. Lord Shiva,
frequently referred to as the god of destruction, is now the most powerful god on the planet. As a
result, everyone came to him for assistance. Then Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma combined their
2. energies in the lady made by Lord Vishnu to destroy Mahishasura. Goddess Durga is considered
to be a reincarnation of Goddess ParvatiShivaโsShivaโs wife. Shakti, a goddess of power who
runs through the universe, is another avatar of Goddess Parvati.
Goddess Durga fought Mahishasura for 15 days after the three great GodsโBrahma, Vishnu,
and Mahesh (Shiva)โcreated her. The Trilokโearth, heaven, and hellโwere all shaken by the
battle. Throughout the battle, Mahishasura changed his appearance to deceive his opponent,
Goddess Durga. When the demon assumed the appearance of a buffalo, the Goddess Durga
used her โTrishul (a forked sword) to puncture his chest, instantly killing him.
