The document discusses a neighborhood association in San Jose and a local elementary school that was damaged by arson. It then proposes what could be done with 100 Drobos storage devices. The neighborhood association would help the school set up Drobos for backup storage to prevent future loss of files like photos and videos from another incident. Some Drobos could also be raffled off by the parent group to raise money to buy disk drives to store backups.

100 Drobos
Helen Chapman,President
Shasta-Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association (S/HPNA)
San Jose, CA
2. What Is S/HPNA?
The Shasta / Hanchett Park Neighborhood
Association is a volunteer-based community
organization founded in 1985 to protect and
advance the interests of the Shasta/Hanchett Park,
St. Leo's, Garden Alameda, and Cahill Park
neighborhoods in San José, California.
S/HPNA provides and promotes programs and
activities aimed at building community and
fostering civic involvement in this historic
community.

4. Great Damage to School
The fire gutted the main building that housed more
than a dozen classrooms and a library that served
more than 1,000 students. Trace is known for its
performing arts, bilingual immersion and parent
involvement.
"It's just so sad. The loss of the library books, the
computers, the teachers' supplies," said parent Risa
Jacobson.
"The library had really good books and really good
poems," said student Emma Perez.
5. Details of the Damage
Insurance will cover the cost of rebuilding the
school, but there are so many things that simply
cannot be replaced.
"Pictures of all the children I ever taught are gone,"
said teacher Sandra Ballingall. "I can't express it.
Very, very sad."
16 classrooms were destroyed. A new portion of the
school was not damaged thanks to the efforts of
firefighters.
6. With 100 Drobos
We would help the administration and faculty set up
Drobos
We could install some offsite with software that will
enable offsite backup so that they’ll never
experience the loss of photos and video again.
We would talk to Drobo and see if they would allow
the Trace PTO to raffle off some of the Drobos to
raise money to buy disk drives for the Drobos
