2. Types Of Bone Fracture
Complete fracture
Bone is completely broken into 2 or
more fragments
Incomplete fracture
Bone is incompletely divided and
periosteum remains in continuity
Open fracture
Called open fractures,are broken
bones that penetrate through skin and
expose bone,deep tissues to exterior
environment
Closed fracture
Called simple fractures,are broken
bones that remain within body and do
not penetrate skin

3. Complete Fracture
Transverse Fracture A fracture in which the break across a
bone,at a right angle to the long axis of
bone
Oblique Fracture A fracture is when the break is on an
angle through the bone
Spiral Fracture Line of fracture spirals around the bone,
can due to torsional forces
Segmental Fracture Fracture composed of at least two
fracture lines that together isolate a
segment of bone,usually portion of
diaphysis of a long bone
5. Incomplete Fracture
Greenstick Fracture Fracture in which the bone is bent but
not broken all way through and occur
most often in children
Torus Fracture Known as buckle fractures of long bone
that is characterised by bulging of the
cortex
Stress Fracture Fractures are tiny cracks in a bone due to
repeated stress
Compression Fracture Occurs when cancellous bone is
compressed by forces greater than the
bone can withstand.
Eg: compression of vertebrate
