This document summarizes the British film rating system and what each rating means: - U means Universal and is for all ages 4 and over but may upset some children. - PG means Parental Guidance and is suitable for ages 8 and up but may have scenes inappropriate for young children. - 12A means films contain material not suitable for those under 12 who must be accompanied by an adult, and 12A videos are only for those 12 and over. - 15 and 18 ratings mean only those 15 and 18 or older can view, rent, or buy films with those ratings. An R18 rating is legally restricted to explicitly sexual material only shown in licensed adult venues.
