 Merek merupakan nama, istilah, tanda, simbol-
dimaksudkan untuk mengidentifikasi barang atau jasa
dari satu penjual (Kotler 1997) telah menjadi bagian
dari lanskap pemasaran selama bertahun-tahun.
 Namun dalam beberapa tahun terakhir masa depan
merek telah dipertanyakan
 Menanggapi hal tersebut, maka ada beda pendapat
tentang eksistensi merek
 Para peneliti terdahulu telah memfokuskan upaya
untuk membangun pemahaman yang lebih baik
tentang bagaimana merek yang kuat dapat diciptakan
dan dipelihara
 Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah studi yang mengkaji
masalah ekuitas merek dan secara empiris menguji
model konseptual yang diadaptasi dari karya Aaker
(1991) dan Keller (1993) dengan mempertimbangkan
efek dari sikap merek dan citra merek pada ekuitas
merek
 Penelitian ini merumuskan kerangka hipotesis , sbb:
 H1 : Ada hubungan langsung yang positif dan signifikan antara brand
image dengan brand equity
 H2 : Ada hubungan langsung yang positif dan signifikan antara brand
attitude dengan brand equity
 H3 : Ada hubungan langsung yang positif dan signifikan antara brand
image dengan brand image
 H4 : Ada hubungan tidak langsung yang positif dan signifikan antara
brand attitude dengan brand equity dengan dimoderasi oleh brand
image
