1. PFE A-Z Addendum
Late Work Policy
Assignments and tests must be completed and turned in on the assigned date in
order to receive full credit. Any assignment not submitted upon the request of the
teacher will be considered late work. Student grades will be deducted 10 points
from the grade earned for the first day assignment is late. Each day following will
receive five point deduction. A grade of zero (0) will be recorded if the completed
assignment has not been turned in by the end of the fifth day.
Makeup Work Policy
Refer to the Elementary Handbook (pg 14). Immediately upon returning to
school, the student must contact teachers concerning arrangements for making up
work, if they are absent less than two days. Parents can contact the front office if
the student is absent for more than three days to request work. Please allow 24
hours for work to be gathered for the students absence. Students should expect to
do more paperwork than those who were in attendance because it is necessary to
make up for the classroom experiences missed. Students have one day to make up
work for each day absent.
Reteach/Retest Policy
Humble ISD’s policy (pg. 29) is to ensure that students have an opportunity to
master the district’s curricular objectives. Reteaching in the district may be
integrated into lessons during guided practice and may be apart of the explanation
phase when checking for understanding is done. The teacher will determine when
reteaching should be rescheduled. For critical skills, it will be done immediately;
for reoccurring skills it may be deferred.
After reteaching, the teacher may use a variety of reassessment techniques to
determine mastery. These techniques may include oral questioning, observation,
retesting, demonstration, and an additional assignment, or an alternative for the
assignment. This applies to all forms of assessment.
