Chicago Writes Love on September 7 to Benefit
A Generation Plagued with Emotional Pain and Addiction
CHICAGO, August 17, 2007 -- Chicago Writes Love announced today that it
would host a concert on Friday, September 7, 2007, at Arabian Nights in Willowbrook,
IL. The concert will benefit To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), a non-profit
movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with
depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. Chicago Writes Love is a group of young
suburban adults affiliated with TWLOHA.
Several local bands will donate their time and talent to the benefit including After
Never of Wood Dale, who have recently been nationally recognized on the CBS
Morning Show’s Living Room Live! … Battle of the Bands. Also playing will be Beauty
and the Breakdown (Lake Zurich), Dallas Motorcade (DeKalb), Awesome Car Funmaker
(Madison, WI), Goodbye Satellite (Chicago), Here Comes the Neighborhood (Roselle)
and Kicked Off Edison (Plainfield).
“Depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide are a plague on our generation,”
says Jules Schneider, a co-organizer of the Chicago Writes Love benefit. “Our goal is
to mobilize to give a voice to those not strong enough to find their own and, in doing so,
help them find a way out,” she adds.

A look at the statistics on self-injury alone is alarming. The Indiana University
Health Center estimates that one in 10 people in their late teens and 20s will self-injure
at least once during adolescence or early adulthood. And depression and addiction is
not simply an affliction of young Hollywood celebrities. Mental disorders are the most
serious chronic conditions of America’s youth, according to research conducted at
Harvard Medical School.
Chicago Writes Love is currently seeking private and corporate donations and
sponsorship to help defray any costs associated with the concert and allow for more
money to be donated To Write Love On Her Arms. Interested parties should contact
