1. A TRIBUTE TO THE REAL HEROES
Kargil Vijay Diwas: Named after the
successful 'Operation Vijay'
Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26th
July every year. It’s a special day for our
country. It’s a day when the country pays
homage to the Kargil War heroes and
celebrates victory over Pakistan in the
Kargil War fought in May1999.
What was the result of the war ?
What was the reason behind this war?
The cause of the war was the infiltration (secretly
entering) by Pakistani soldiers disguised as
Kashmiri militants into positions on the Indian
side of the LOC (Line Of Control) which actually
serves as the border between the two states.
How long did this war continue?
The Kargil war was fought for
more than 60 days, ended on
26 July, 1999 and resulted in
loss of life on both the sides.
India won this
war and was
successful in
pushing back the
enemy to the
other side of the
LOC.
This Year 2020, we
will be Celebrating
it’s 21st
