- 2. It is almost certain that gout patients will develop other health complications if their hyperuricemia condition is kept untreated for a period of time. For some, it is the other way around in which they had other health problems such as hypertension, migraine, etc. before they get their first gout attack.
- 3. It is commonly known that gout is a result of high uric acid in the blood, but does it only have one type of acid floating around in our body? Of course not! If you have high uric acid in your body (I used the word 'body' because uric acid does not stay in your blood only), chances are high that you have other acidic compounds that is way above normal healthy range. Some are toxic chemical acids, some are bio-acids produced by the body during metabolism. I often hear people (especially some stubborn professionals) claim that we do not need any external supplement to help neutralize the acidic compounds in the body.
- 4. According to their 'professional' understanding, our body has the natural ability to regulate or get rid of those toxic compounds. This natural inborn pH regulating ability is called homeostasis of pH which similar to the heat homeostasis that regulate the body temperature. They often give this example: "Look! When your body becomes too hot, hypothalamus inside the brain will kick start a series of homeostasis biological reactions such as sweating and increased breathing rate to bring down the body temperature back to normal. It is the same for pH regulation, when you have too much of toxic acids in your body, kidneys will do the job to throw away those wastes."
- 5. Now imagine what will happen if someone is locked in the hot sauna room for hours? Do you think his body homeostasis reaction can handle that? Of course not! That is just way beyond the natural ability of the body to cope with! Sauna room is considered as an extreme environment to live in. Our body can handle a short temporary abnormal condition with its homeostasis adaptation ability but if the extreme condition is stressed for too long or beyond the tolerance level, the body will start to show signs of fatigue such as dehydration and hallucination as an alarm to tell you to rectify the environment before it is too late.
- 6. Gout is one of the warning signs of the body telling you that your body is under intense stress of acidosis. The input of acidic food is way beyond the body ability to eliminate them, the pH of your body internal environment is going down at an alarming rate. Uric acid level is what you can see in your blood test, but there are some other acidic compounds in your body that a standard blood test cannot shows. You don not really have to know their names or chemical formulas, all you need to know is that they are all acids which will slowly corrode your body.
- 7. If you do not take actions to neutralize and get rid of those excessive acids, your body cells will be like fishes living in a dirty and filthy aquarium which has not been cleaned for years. Under extreme acidic environment, your body cells will either become weak and dying or they will mutate and become 'monsters' that eventually developed into cancer. A number of researches had proved that most of the modern diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, etc. are all rooted from acidosis.
- 8. It is your body! You are the only person who can decide whether to focus on catching the monster fishes (symptoms) or keep the water clean (root). Fixing the symptoms such as gout can be done fast and easy with some medicines such as colchicine and allopurinol, but the effectiveness of the drugs is just temporary and you might slowly become dependent or addicted to them. The ultimate way is to restore a healthy internal environment by slowly changing your lifestyle to a more alkaline way of life. Believe it or not, gout is curable.
