Pecan and Chocolate
Chip Cookies
Pecan pie is a classic dessert specialty in Southern
U.S. traditionally served during holidays or special
occasions such as Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Corn syrup and pecan nuts are usually made as
filling is. In this recipe, chocolate chips are used to
make the pecan pie even more enticing. The nuts
crunch as you eat it and the chocolates create a
sensation as it melt in your mouth making this pie a divinely unforgettable treat. For toppings use whipped
cream or serve vanilla ice cream on top or the side of the pecan pie for an even more indulgent treat.
In this recipe a ready made pie crust is used. This can be bought in the grocery, pastry shop or bakeshop. When
making pecan pie one of the common problems that people encounter is that the pie does not firm up or set after
the set baking time. The pie is too jiggly or soupy. The reason why this usually happens is if the filling is not
mixed well or the corn syrup used is old. So to avoid this problem, make sure that you mix the filling well until
it becomes smooth before you fold in the pecans and chocolate chips, which should be evenly distributed
throughout the whole filling. The pecans will rise up to the top during baking. If after baking it for the set time
the filling is still jiggly, cover the pie with foil then bake again for another 10 to 20 minutes or until it is mostly
set. You can check some other recipes in Gourmandia.ca
If you have some leftover chocolate chip pecan pie you can store them in the refrigerator. Place the sliced cold
pecan in a microwave safe-dish and microwave it on high for 10 seconds and it will be nice and warm and just
perfect. In baking pecan pie choose good quality ingredients, particularly high quality chocolate chips and
pecans with unblemished shells with no cracks. Pecans are more perishable and have higher oil content than
other nuts. You can store the pecan pie in the refrigerator for up to three months in an airtight double-bag.
