Why Are There So Many Country Songs About Soldiers
Judge Jules performs in Sharm el Sheikh
1. Judge Jules is one of the United Kingdom's most famous
dance exports. A successful radio and club DJ, Judge Jules
(who got his name whilst studying law at university) has
achieved international success over the last 25 years or so
that he has been in the business. But just as soon as his
stint as a Radio 1 DJ came to an end, his club Dj-ing
showed no sign of slowing down.
2. On the 5th April, less than a week after his last Radio 1
broadcast, Judge Jules was raising the roof in the Egyptian
resort of Sharm el Sheikh. His special Easter appearance in
SOHO Square at the Caligula Club adds yet another top
club venue to his repertoire.
3. The Caligula Club in Sharm el Sheikh is the hottest spot in
the resort and is situated right between two Savoy-owned
hotels; the Savoy and its sister hotel, Sierra. Whilst Judge
Jules is perhaps more used to the short and t-shirt
clubbers of Ibiza, no doubt his set at the prestigious
Caligula Club was a much more formal affair. Clubbers who
attend gigs and sets at the venue have to stick to a strict
dress code where full-length trousers and proper shoes -
not flip-flops - are mandatory for men.
4. Although Judge Jules is a family man with a wife and kids,
he is still very part of the modern club scene. During the
summer, Judge Jules and his family split their time
between their North London home and his villa in Ibiza.
5. Between the miserable British summer months of June
and September, the Jules family head out to Ibiza. During
this time, Judge Jules plays his Judgement Sundays set at
the popular nightclub of Eden in the tourist town of San
Antonio. Here he mainly plays a selection of trance tracks,
although he also mixes in indie and funky house tunes,
too. The fact this club is full every Sunday proves just how
talented this British DJ still is.
