Captain Leverette has served in various command and staff roles, including Commander of Logistics Force for U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and Task Force 53, with experience on multiple aircraft carriers and destroyers. As the first commanding officer of Riverine Squadron 2, he reestablished the Navy's riverine combat capability and led over 600 combat missions in Iraq.

CAPT Glen S. Leverette Jr. is a native of Jacksonville, Fl.
He was commissioned in 1990 through the United
States Naval Academy where he graduated with Merit
and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political
Science.
He received a Master of Arts degree in Elementary
Education from Jacksonville University and was the
distinguished graduate from the U.S. Naval War
College where he earned a Master’s degree in National
Security and Strategic Studies.
Captain Leverette has recently served as the
Commander Logistics Force, U.S. Naval Forces Central
Command, Commander, Military Sealift Command Central
Command; and Commander, Task Force 53 from December 2012 to December 2014.
His assignments at sea include Combat Information Center Officer on USS Leyte Gulf
(CG 55); Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer on USS Saratoga (CV 60); Combat Systems
Officer on USS Boone (FFG 28) and on Destroyer Squadron 21, embarked on USS John
C. Stennis (CVN 74); Assistant Operations Officer for Commander, Carrier Strike Group
12 embarked on USS Enterprise (CVN 65); Executive Officer of USS Dewert (FFG 45);
and Strategy, Plans and Exercise Officer for Carrier Strike Group Five embarked on USS
Kitty Hawk (CV 63).
As the first Commanding Officer of Riverine Squadron 2, he re-established the Navy's
riverine combat capability after a 40-year hiatus and led 624 combat missions while
deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service
Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals in addition to various service and campaign
awards.
