The document provides instructions for students to research the life cycle of a frog using online databases. It guides students to formulate a research question, look up the definition of "frog" in a dictionary, search for articles on the topic and choose one to read further. Students are asked to take notes by underlining information that answers their research question and writing it in a bulleted list. The document warns that research may require trying multiple strategies to find relevant information and to discard sources that do not help answer the question.
Book Buddies: Building Better Reading Attitudeskmstoeckle
The document describes a study that examined the effects of a Book Buddies program on students' attitudes about reading. In the program, older 2nd grade students read books to younger kindergarten and 1st grade students in 20 minute sessions over 3 weeks. Students completed a reading attitude survey before and after. The study found no significant differences in reading attitude scores before and after across all students, or between the older and younger students specifically. The researchers concluded that while the program did not improve attitudes, it also did not negatively impact them. Limitations of the small sample size and number of sessions were noted for future research.

The Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (PIRI) is a reading assessment tool developed by the Philippine Department of Education to evaluate reading proficiency among elementary school students. It measures word recognition, reading speed, and comprehension through oral and silent reading tests in both English and Filipino. Test results indicate students' reading levels as independent, instructional, or frustration based on accuracy and comprehension criteria. The PIRI helps identify individual students' strengths and weaknesses to guide teaching and ensure every Filipino child becomes an effective reader.
The document discusses the Informal Reading Inventory (IRI), which is an assessment tool used to evaluate students' reading abilities. It measures word recognition, oral reading, fluency, comprehension, and identifies reading strengths and weaknesses. The IRI determines students' independent, instructional, and frustrational reading levels by having them read passages and answer questions. While IRIs have been used since the 1940s, research continues to improve their validity and reliability so teachers can most accurately place students in appropriate reading materials. The goal is to support students' reading progress through good assessment and instruction.

The document discusses summer reading programs and their importance. It notes that research shows disadvantaged students experience reading loss over the summer months, while higher income students continue reading and accessing books. Summer reading programs aim to prevent this "summer slide" by encouraging reading over break. The document then shares results from a survey of summer reading programs in South Suburban public libraries. Key findings include that most libraries use themes from the Collaborative Summer Library Program and hold special programming events to promote participation.
This document provides instructions for administering the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) Oral Test. It includes background information for teachers on using informal reading inventories to assess students' reading abilities. The Phil-IRI Oral Test consists of graded reading passages from Grade 1 to Grade 6 that students read orally while being assessed on word recognition, vocabulary and comprehension. Test administrators receive information to help plan reading instruction. The document outlines the test materials, administration procedures, and forms to record and report results at the school, district, division and national levels.
Reading intervention programs aim to prevent or address reading failure by targeting students' specific needs. Effective interventions identify whether a student struggles with decoding, fluency, comprehension, or vocabulary and provide instruction tailored to their phase of learning. The response to intervention model uses increasingly intensive tiers of support. Tier 1 involves core instruction, Tier 2 adds more time and intensity, and Tier 3 provides individualized intervention. Successful programs explicitly teach phonics, include reading with comprehension, and can be implemented in small groups or by paraprofessionals especially in early grades. Evaluating programs ensures they adapt to student needs and include alphabetic knowledge, phonemic awareness, vocabulary and text reading.
The document promotes the Reading Action Program, which calls on Lions clubs to focus on literacy and access to educational resources in their communities. It encourages clubs to get involved through volunteer activities like serving as readers, supporting Braille literacy, organizing book drives, and helping build classrooms. Clubs can find resources on the LCI website including project ideas, success stories, and ways to report literacy projects. Clubs are also encouraged to use social media to share their stories and assess community needs using the provided questionnaire.
This document discusses various reading interventions used to improve literacy. It begins with examples of jumbled letters and their corresponding words to build vocabulary. It then addresses why reading is important, factors that affect reading proficiency, and how teachers target word identification, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The document outlines the Department of Education's goal to enable reading in English and Filipino for all students. It describes assessment tools and programs used to monitor progress, along with implications of results. A range of interventions are presented, including read-a-thons, spelling bees, vocabulary lessons, silent reading time, buddy reading, readers theater, and journaling to promote literacy development.

Putin, Endonezya'nın yerel kıyafeti 'Batik'i sevdi
(2013)
6. APEC, diğer bölge ülkelerinin de katılmasıyla dört kıta üzerine
yayılmış, üyeleri dünya nüfusunun % 40’ını barındıran (yaklaşık 2,7
milyar kişi), dünya ekonomisinin % 55’ini oluşturan, dünya ticaretinin
ise % 45’ini gerçekleştiren 21 ekonomiden oluşan önemli bir platform
niteliği kazanmıştır.
APEC özellikle ABD ve Japonya'nın destekleriyle kurulmuştur.
7. APEC’in oynaması gereken rol konusunda, kendisini oluşturan
değişik gelişmişlik seviyesi ve ekonomik büyüklüğe sahip ülkeler
arasındaki görüş ayrılıkları da zaman zaman su yüzüne çıkıyordu.
8. Daha ilk başta Japonya, APEC’in Asya Pasifik havzasında
ekonomik işbirliğini sağlayacak ve karşılıklı ekonomik bağımlılığı
temin edecek projeleri hayata geçirecek bölgesel bir yapı olmasını
arzu ederken, ABD ticari konuların istişare edilebileceği gevşek bir
yapıdan yanaydı. ABD’de başkanlığa Clinton’un seçilmesinin
ardından APEC, ABD’nin Asya’ya yönelik ticari stratejilerinde
önemli bir konuma geldi.
9. Bu kez de, ABD’nin APEC’i ticari müzakerelerin yapılacağı,
Uruguay Turu’nun başarısızlığı halinde GATT’a alternatif hale
gelecek bir forum haline dönüştürmesi fikri, bunun kendi eşit
konumlarını kaybettireceğini düşünen Malezya önderliğindeki
ASEAN ülkeleri tarafından tepkiyle karşılandı.
10. Böylece APEC’in üzerinde anlaşmaya varılabilen
hedefleri ancak 1991’deki üçüncü Bakanlar toplantısında
ortaya konabildi.
Bu hedefler; Asya Pasifik Bölgesinin büyüme ve
kalkınmasını sürdürmek, giderek artan karşılıklı
ekonomik bağımlılıktan kaynaklanan kazançları artırmak,
çok taraflı serbest ticaret sistemini geliştirmek ve
güçlendirmek ve GATT ilkelerine uygun olarak, taraflar
arasında mal, hizmet ticareti ve yatırımların önündeki
engelleri azaltmak olarak sıralanabilir.
11. APEC'in temel hedefleri 1994'te Endonezya'nın
Bogor kentinde kararlaştırılmıştır.
Bogor hedefleri şöyle sıralanır:
- Ticaret ve yatırımın serbestleştirilmesi
- İktisadi ve ticari faaliyetlerin kolaylaştırılması
- Ekonomik ve teknik işbirliği.
12. APEC'in üst düzey komiteleri
şunlardır,
- Liderler Zirvesi
- Ticaret ve Yatırım Komitesi
- Ekonomik Komite
- Üst Düzey Yetkililer Ekonomik ve
Teknik İşbirliği İcra Komitesi
- Bütçe ve Yönetim Komitesi
Tayvan
Cumhurbaşkanı yıllık liderler zirvesine katılmamakta ve yerine bakanlık
düzeyinde resmî bir görevli göndermektedir.
Hong Kong 1991 yılında Büyük Britanya yönetimi altındayken
APEC'e katılmıştır. 1997 yılında Çin’in özel yönetilen bir bölgesi hâline
gelmiş ve örgüt içindeki adı "Hong Kong, Çin" olmuştur.
Hong Kong ve Makao ayrı ekonomiler olarak görüldüğünden,
yalnızca anakara Çin'i temsil etmektedir

37. Örgütte dört üst düzey komite vardır:
• Ticaret ve Yatırım Komitesi (CTT)
• Bütçe ve Yönetim Komitesi (BMC)
• Ekonomik Komite (EC)
• Ekonomik ve Teknik İşbirliği Üzerine Üst Düzey
Yetkililer Toplantısı Komitesi
38. 1993 kararına göre Ticaret ve Yatırım
Komitesi, ekonomik aktiviteyi artırmak ve
malların akışını kolaylaştırmak ve üye
ekonomiler arasında hizmet akışını
kolaylaştırmak için bir program hazırlar.Şu
anda bölgede malların, hizmetin ve teknolojinin
akışını sağlayan önlemleri almıştır.
39. Bütçe ve Yönetim Komitesi (BMC) üst düzey APEC
görevlilerine bütçe ve yönetim konularında danışmanlık
yapmak için kurulmuştur. BMC'nin, APECin yıllık
bütçesini, çalışma gruplarının bütçesini ve CTT'ın ve
sekreterliğin hazırladığı yönetim bütçesini değerlendirme
yetkisi vardır.
1994'te Ekonomik Eğilim grubu, Ekonomik Komite içinde
kurulmuştur. Komite APEC içinde işbirliğini kolaylaştırmak
için bölgesel ekonomik eğilim için çalışmalar yapar.
Sekreterliğin üst düzey yöneticisi APEC yönetiminde ikinci
kişidir ve bir yıllığına hizmet eder .
40. d. Faaliyetleri:
bildirmektedirler.

41. PLANIN ANA ALANLARI:
• Gümrükler
• Gümrük dışı kısıtlamalar
• Hizmetler
• Yatırım
• Standartlar ve uyum
• Gümrük prosedürleri
• Entelektüel hazırlık
• Rekabet politikası
• İdari kazanımlar
• Düzenleme kaldırımı/düzenleme gözden geçirmesi
• Dünya ticaret örgütü yaptırımları
• Anlaşmazlık uyuşturulması
• Ticaretle uğraşanların hareket edebilirliği
• Bilgi toplama ve analiz
42. Ülkelerin ilk 10 yılda yaşadıkları gelişmelerle ilgili dikkat
çekici bazı rakamlar şöyledir:
• İhracat %110 artarak 2.5 trilyon ABD doları seviyesine ulaşmıştır.
• Yabancı doğrudan yatırım genelde %210 ve alt seviye ekonomiye
sahip ülkelerde ise %475 artmıştır.
• Gerçek toplam yurtiçi hasıla toplamda %33 ve alt seviye
ekonomiye sahip ülkelerde ise %74 artmıştır.
• Kişi başı yurtiçi hasıla alt seviye ekonomiye sahip ülkelerde %61
artmıştır.
• 174 milyonu alt seviye ekonomilerde olmak üzere toplam 195
milyon yeni iş imkanı yaratılmıştır.
• 2000-2005 arası dönemde internete erişebilen insan sayısı 3 katına
çıkmıştır
43. Tüm bu veriler ışığında baktığımızda APEC özellikle başlangıç
safhasında, ABD'nin dünyada şu an bayraktarlığını yapmakta olduğu
47. Türkiye, Asya-Pasifik bölgesinin giderek artan önemi ve
ağırlığı çerçevesinde, APEC bağlamında yaşanan gelişmeleri
de yakından takip etmektedir.
