Growing up I have always known that I wanted to be a developer.
I love the process of seeing a simple concept developed into a working product or prototype.
I have always been great at problem solving, most of the time when close friends buy something from IKEA they know to call me because they know that I love the process of assembling something more than the actual finished product.
Art has always been my escape and continues to be a large influence of what drives me in life.
I love the process of discovering the mysteries within a blank page and/or canvas. Programming has become my new art escape.
I find peace and beauty in well-crafted programs.
I’m a strong believer that coding is a new art form. It allows me to express myself through my writing, crafting, and creating.
Unlike everything else, the finished result brings me the greatest joy because in reality the programs, mobile apps, and web applications are never truly completely done.
There is always something new to add or improve and each and every experience offers new challenges and disciplines that I enjoy learning from.
I’ve been blessed to be named one of the new “Refreshing Artist” of 2014 for “Brisk,” the beverage company.
I learned a lot about myself during the process of designing a can design that was developed to meet the needs of their target audience. During a months process I focused on learning everything about Brisk, their past designs, previous designers & their backgrounds, and their target audience. I put everything I had in to developing a brand design that matched their brands persona, in turn I won the account.
I’m naturally competitive so winning was my only option and failing/losing just makes me want it that much more.
I have failed two times before, one with Coca-Cola and the other with SOBE. By losing those two other accounts I made it my personal goal to focus on developing a can design that would be focused around the Brisk brand, their target audience, and match the skill level of their previous artist.
Programming challenges me in the same way as the Brisks (Half & Half Lemonade) design challenge did…
I have made a lot of errors, bugs, and programs that crash but I’m determined to be the best programmer that I can be and will do whatever it takes to be just that.
My competitive advantage is that I welcome challenges because I’m focused, determined, and driven to learn from my mistakes.
I also embrace failure because I treat everything with fervor & emotion.
As a professional I have been awarded multiple awards from the American Advertising Federation and the Orange County Advertising Federation ranging from web design & development, product development, collateral material, and branding.
I’ve also had the privilege of designing a logo for CBS the television network.
Despite being a novice in the design & developing industry my drive and competitive nature has always pushed me to excel beyond my own expectations.
Ideally I want to work for Google…
but in the process of getting there I just want to collaborate with other designers & developers that share the same dedication, passion, and love for crafting programs, products, and services as I do.
Success to me is the freedom to do whatever I want and make a living while inspiring others…
I consider myself to be extremely blessed with an abundance of opportunities and the ability to create my own luck.
Success would be to inspire and motivate others to take each day with the same love and rush to discover the world and themselves as I do. I want to be that positive influence for someone who is lost & misguided, something that I never had growing up.
I want to help the younger me find their path faster so that they can also remove themselves from their negative peers and/or situations too improve their lifestyle.
