Three adds 1 Million new customers over 2012
This article is about how three have attracted 1 million new customers over the past
year due to their smartphone focus and network improvements .
The article shows that there is an increase in customers wanting a better network
connection and smartphone so when they are on the move they can access the
internet on their smartphone.
This is important, as digitisement will have to make their email marketing campaigns
to suit the screen size of smartphones so the recipient can see the whole email.
The article suggests that 39 per cent of three customers already have access to the
improved three network however the company says the network will reach more than
half of the UK population by the end of the year but by April 2013 they are supposed to
have 80% of the population covered.
This is important as digitisement will be able to use mobile marketing and be confident
that customers will be able to access it on the move as it would smartphone
compatible as well as be able to connection all over the UK.

Forget 4G – 5g is already under discussion at OFCOM
4G is the next step in wireless access to the internet for mobile phones. This
article shows how despite the fact that the 4G auction has not taken place
yet, there are plans already in motion at OFCOM to prepare for the creation
of 5G to cope with the increase in the use of smartphones.
The use of 5G access will be useful for Digitisement as when we send ads to
possible customers via e-mail they will be able to access it a lot quicker.
A problem with this article is that it’s based on something that is only a
possibility. Yes, OFCOM has released plans to create more capacity for
mobile internet but it comes across quite presumptuous that it’s likely to be
called 5G. However, an upside to this article is that these claims are backed
up well with seemingly accurate statistics on the growth of mobile internet
use.

Can mobile ad networks slow the spread of mobile malware
Cybercriminals are losing interest in PCs and laptops and are
focusing on infiltrating mobile devices. These cybercriminals
target platforms like Android and iOS with SMS-sending
malware, mobile botnets, spyware, and destructive Trojans.
In response to these intruders, mobile ad networks try to crack
down this epidemic, but without any significant results.
Airprush, the second largest mobile ad network for
Android, scans advertiser apps, promotions and URLs removing
the possible threat of malware across Airpush’s vast network of
more than 50,000 apps.

Near field communication is technology that allows somebody to
wave their smartphone or device over an NFC compatible device to
send information and data without having to make the devices
touch or going through several steps in order to set up a connection
between the devices.
Devices using NFC can be active or passive. Passive NFC devices
have information that other devices can read but they don’t read
anything themselves, an example of a passive device is an NFC tag.
Whereas active NFC devices can read information and send it.
An example of an active device is a smartphone. NFC is used in many
different situations now, e.g. when doing grocery shopping you can
use a smartphone and wave it over the card reader which has
coupons and customer reward points already on it which are then
applied and allows you to pay just by waving the phone.
9. Proximity Marketing

switched on and they walk past a co-operative
shop, they will receive a Bluetooth message telling
the person about offers and promotions.

QR code they will be directed to the link address which may be
an offer on a product.

17. Free music downloader
The free music downloader allows you to download songs onto your
smartphone if you’re in an area with 3G access, it also has a section where
you can browse different sections of music releases such as “what’s hot”
“Japanese tracks” and “UK top artists”. You can also edit the music you
currently have by trimming it into a single section of the song in order to
make it more suitable for the individuals ringtone.
The free music downloader is very useful for people who can’t afford to pay
for the CD’s or mp3’s, it has a vast library of music to choose from which
means it can be used by anybody no matter what the music taste.
A drawback of this app is that it isn’t very up to date so you’ll often find that
you won’t be able to find brand new releases. On top of this, downloading
music for free is illegal so there is a possibility of prosecution.
18. Angry Birds
Is a game that recaptures the thrill several generations of
children felt when watching those first three Star Wars films and
a best of compilation of Angry Birds so far, but with the Star
Wars universe wrapped around it.
The gameplay is familiar Angry Birds - catapult birds to destroy
all the pigs on a level, earning one, two or three stars depending
how well you do it.
The game is also an imaginative evolution of the core bird-
slinging mechanic, just as Angry Birds Space was before it. Little
touches really do make a difference and you can tell. Angry Birds
Star Wars is the best Angry Birds game yet, and the best Star
Wars spin-off in a long time. It's going to be big, and deservedly
so.
