Gamers in Spain
Spain #2 in the world when it comes to gaming on multiple screens Spain has 19.5 million gamers and 6.0 million of them play games on all four screens: the Computer, Personal, Floating and Entertainment screen – this is equal to 31.1% of all Spanish gamers. Only China has a higher percentage of gamers that play on all screens – 31.9%. In terms of game revenues, Spain is currently holding position number 10 in the world, and is ranked 5th in Europe, just behind Italy. 55% Of the Spanish gamers actually pay for games on at least one of the platforms. Online social/casual games are the largest segment followed by TV/Console and smartphone gaming. As a lot of the Spanish gamers play on multiple screens, it is not surprising that Spain has a relatively high share of players across all individual screens. The computer screen is still extremely popular in Spain with 93.2% of all players using it to play games. Also, the smartphone or Personal Screen (79.0%) and Floating Screen (48.6%) are relatively popular in Spain when compared to other countries. Despite being number 10 in the world when looking at game revenues – Spain is positioned relatively low in the monthly mobile game revenues rankings of the iPad (#17) and iPhone Store (#18). This is due to the fact that Spain has a relatively low percentage of mobile gamers that pay for mobile games (32%). Spain performs better based on Google Play revenues taking spot number 11.
