Why War In Heaven?

 1. 1. Important Questions Why was there war in heaven? Rev 12:7-9 Why did Lucifer think he should receive worship? What did he use to defend himself & gain followers? WORSHIP PRIDE DECEPTION ISSUES: (1) Worship (2) Authority (3) Creatorship (4) Pride vs Humility (5) Deception
 2. 3. Lucifer wanted to be worshiped

Isa 14:14 “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

Cain and Abel Gen 4:2-8

Matt 4:9 “. . . 3. 4. Worship Authority Creatorship Rev 4:11 Matt 4:10 Ps 148:5 Rev 19:10 “ Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Rev 4:11 “ Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.” Ps 148:5 “ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God:” Rev 19:10 “ Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” Matt 4:10
 4. 5. Pride

Ezekiel 28:5 “. . . and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:”

Ezekiel 28:17 “Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty . . .”

Why did Lucifer become proud – why was his “heart lifted up”?

Obad 1:3 “The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, . . .”

Because he forgot where the riches and the beauty came from. ( Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,”)

 5. 6. Deception (From Gen 3) 1: Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2: And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 1Tm 2:14 “And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”
 6. 7. Definitions

Deception: The person committing the act is totally unaware of the error.

Hypocrite: The person is aware they are committing an error, but they pretend they don’t know.

 7. 8. Rev 12:7-9 “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
