The seven angels are given seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God by one of the four living creatures. The bowls contain the plagues that will be poured out on the earth as judgment. This is the same bowls that in chapter 5 contained the prayers of the saints, which have now been transformed into God's wrathful judgments. The temple is filled with smoke from God's glory and power, and no one can enter until the seven plagues contained in the bowls have been completed.

4. • Isaiah 13:6-9 Wail, for the day of the LORD is near!
It will come as destruction from the Almighty. (7)
Therefore all hands will fall limp, And every man's
heart will melt. (8) They will be terrified, Pains
and anguish will take hold of them; They will
writhe like a woman in labor, They will look at one
another in astonishment, Their faces aflame. (9)
Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, Cruel, with
fury and burning anger, To make the land a
desolation; And He will exterminate its sinners
from it.

10. • Nikao however, is used here with the preposition
ek three times, one for each of the areas of
victory—the beast, his image, and his mark. Ek
means “out of, from, away from.” It is used to
introduce the person, place, or thing from which a
separation takes place. Here, nikao„ carries the
idea of deliverance. Because of their victory in
Christ, they were delivered from the beast, from
his image, and from his mark.

that also at the revelation of His glory you may
rejoice with exultation. (14) If you are reviled for
the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the
Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

18. • The song of Moses commemorated the execution
of the foe, the expectation of the saints, and the
exaltation of the Lord, the song of the Lamb deals
with the same three themes.” John Phillips quoted
by John Macarthur.

24. • (5) After these things I looked, and the temple of
the tabernacle of testimony in heaven was
opened, (6) and the seven angels who had the
seven plagues came out of the temple, clothed in
linen, clean and bright, and girded around their
chests with golden sashes.
25. • (7) Then one of the four living creatures gave to
the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the
wrath of God, who lives forever and ever. (8) And
the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of
God and from His power; and no one was able to
enter the temple until the seven plagues of the
seven angels were finished.
26. • “In chapter 5, the golden bowls are filled with the
prayers of the saints, while in chapter 15 they are
filled with the wrath of God. The identification of
these two sets of golden bowls as the same bowls
is not simply the result of the fact that they are
described by the same terminology. There is also
the parallel of Revelation 8, where the prayers of
the saints are mixed with incense, and then with
fire, and then cast to the earth in the form of the
plagues.
27. • Revelation 8:3-5 Another angel came and stood at
the altar, holding a golden censer; and much
incense was given to him, so that he might add it
to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar
which was before the throne. (4) And the smoke
of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went
up before God out of the angel's hand. (5) Then
the angel took the censer and filled it with the fire
of the altar, and threw it to the earth; and there
followed peals of thunder and sounds and flashes
of lightning and an earthquake.
28. • It seems evident that God has transformed the
prayers of the saints (once contained in the golden
bowls) to the plagues of the final series of
judgments about to be poured out on the earth
(now contained in the same golden bowls). The
prayers of the righteous thus become the plagues
of Revelation 15 and 16.” Keith Krell
