You can conceal everything, except the gaze. Because the eyes are what we have
of most transparent. This collection is bred from the inevitability of a gaze,
from a casual encounter with a photographer sitting in a Parisian café, that
I had met a few days earlier at the presentation of my maison, in December 2014.
I began by drawing her eyes, their magnetic force, and that invisible thread,
tautly stretched between two souls, which connected us in the way we conceived
creation and art. This is the original vision, the elective affinity that inspired my
garments, where geometric and organic forms blend.
The duality of the modern woman, made of fragility and power, finds a synthesis
on the surface of the clothes in the shape of a triangle. A fascinating figure,
simple and ancestral, that Xenocrates, a disciple of Plato, had used as the symbol
with which to access divine and human mysteries. The Greek philosopher
considered the equilateral triangle to be «divine», the isosceles to be «demonic»
and the scalene, imperfect by definition, to be «human».
These geometric elements recur in all the pieces of my collection to evoke the
relationship with people. Evident or veiled, to be sought in the sartorial details
or to be interpreted case by case, like the complexity that is hidden behind
a woman’s gaze, transparent yet at the same time impenetrable.
