Egypt has been governed by President Hosni Mubarak for 30 years with no economic improvements and increasing inequality. In 2011, Mubarak was arrested after mass protests. Mohammed Morsi was then elected president but was later arrested in a 2013 military coup. The coup led to widespread protests and violence resulting in over 6,000 deaths. The R4BIA symbol was launched in solidarity with supporters of Morsi, representing constancy, resistance, unity and strength.
