The current moment is demanding that there be a wide mobilization of the population to demand that the parliamentarians accept the denunciation against Michel Temer so that he suffers the penalties of the law by what he practiced of the crimes of passive corruption, obstruction of the justice, prevarication, money laundering and criminal organization. This is the only way to make the Chamber of Deputies, pressured by the people, put a definitive end in the ill-fated Michel Temer government. We must pay attention to the fact that if the parliamentarians avoid Michel Temer's departure of the power, his political future will be compromised and will pay a high price with the rejection of his candidacies in the next elections. Population pressure against parliamentarians should be centered on this point.

THE DESTINY OF BRAZIL IS IN THE HANDS OF CITIZENS
Fernando Alcoforado *
The end of the Michel Temer government depends on the decisions taken in the
Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) on the denunciations of the
Attorney General of Republic, Rodrigo Janot, against the President of the Republic for
passive corruption. Michel Temer and his advisor Rodrigo Rocha Loures are accused of
receiving bribes from the JBS refrigerator. Rocha Loures, a former deputy, was Temer's
"man who carried a suitcase full of money". In addition to the complaint of passive
corruption, the Attorney General of Republic will denounce Temer, also, of obstruction
of justice, prevarication, money laundering and criminal organization.
Today, the Federal Police delivered a report to the Federal Supreme Court stating that
Temer, former minister Geddel Vieira Lima and businessman Joesley Batista committed
the crime of obstruction of justice. The document was sent to Janot, who may decide to
file a second complaint against the president. The Federal Police had already indicated
that Temer and Rocha Loures are also investigated by a criminal organization.
In the complaint of passive corruption, the Attorney General of the Republic stated that
"between March and April 2017, with free and conscious will, the President of the
Republic Michel Temer, availing himself of his position as head of the Executive Power
and National leadership, received for himself, in a unit of design and through Rodrigo
Rocha Loures, an undue advantage of R$ 500,000.00 (five hundred thousand reais)
offered by Joesley Mendonça Batista, president J & F Investimentos SA, whose
payment was made by the executive of J & F Ricardo Saud".
Janot's complaint is being filed with the Federal Supreme Court (STF), which will refer
it to the Chamber of Deputies. By the Constitution, the Chamber must authorize the
opening of process against the President of the Republic in criminal proceedings. Temer
needs 172 votes to stop the accusations in the plenary. By the Constitution, 2/3 of the
votes, or 342 of the 513 votes of the Chamber, are required to authorize the initiation of
proceedings on the basis of the complaint. Before going to the plenary for decision, the
complaint must be sent to the Constitution and Justice Commission as soon as it reaches
the Chamber of Deputies.
It is therefore apparent that, initially, the fate of Michel Temer depends on the decision
of the Chamber of Deputies and then on the STF. If the Chamber of Deputies accepts
the denunciation of the Attorney General of Republic, Temer will be tried by the STF,
which, being condemned, will be removed from power for 180 days being replaced by
the current president of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia, who, within 30 days,
should convene indirect elections by the National Congress. The outlook for the future
is not one of the most favorable for Brazil, because leaving the power a corrupt
president would occupy for 30 days the president of the Chamber also investigated by
Lava Jato Operation and, after the indirect election, could be elected a congressman
who should be a comparsa of the evildoers who infest the National Congress.
The current moment is demanding that there be a wide mobilization of the population to
demand that the parliamentarians accept the denunciation against Michel Temer so that
he suffers the penalties of the law by what he practiced of the crimes of passive
corruption, obstruction of the justice, prevarication, money laundering and criminal
organization. This is the only way to make the Chamber of Deputies, pressured by the

people, put a definitive end in the ill-fated Michel Temer government. We must pay
attention to the fact that if the parliamentarians avoid Michel Temer's departure of the
power, his political future will be compromised and will pay a high price with the
rejection of his candidacies in the next elections. Population pressure against
parliamentarians should be centered on this point.
In addition, if there is an indirect election for the Presidency of the Republic, Civil
Society must also interfere in the choice of Michel Temer's successor with the
indication of a respectable name of the parliament or of someone outside the parliament,
competent and of unblemished morality, that is capable of guiding the nation's course
until the next elections. The mobilization of the population should also be triggered in
order to demand that the future president of the Republic elected in indirect election,
substitute of Michel Temer, make a commitment to convene an Exclusive Constituent
Assembly to carry out the political, state and public administration reforms to re-
organize the national life before the next general elections. Make direct elections as
advocated by some political leaders with a National Congress and demoralized political
parties such as the current ones will not solve the problems of Brazil.
