7. 1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in
Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do
everything they tell you. But do not do what they do,
for they do not practice what they preach. 5 They tie
up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other
people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not
willing to lift a finger to move them.
8. 5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They
make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their
garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at
banquets and the most important seats in the
synagogues; 8 they love to be greeted with respect in
the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.
9 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have
one Teacher, and you are all brothers.
9. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you
have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you
to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor,
the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your
servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be
humbled, and those who humble themselves will be
exalted.
13. A VIRAL post
is something
that has been
shared, copied
and spread
across all
social
platforms.
14. On Facebook in particular, going VIRAL means
that a post has generated a great deal of
attention in the form of a high number of likes,
shares and comments.
15.
16.
17.
18.
19. We live in a time where our
culture has been shaped by
self-serving, self-gratifying and
self-promoting values.
21. WE NEED TO BE SELFLESS
RATHER THAN
SELF-CENTERED.
22. 1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in
Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do
everything they tell you. But do not do what they
do, for they do not practice what they preach. 5
They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them
on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves
are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
23. 5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They
make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their
garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at
banquets and the most important seats in the
synagogues; 8 they love to be greeted with respect
in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by
others. 9 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you
have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.
24. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you
have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you
to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor,
the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be
your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves
will be humbled, and those who humble
themselves will be exalted.
25. WE NEED TO BE
A SERVANT OF ALL
IN ORDER TO BE GREATEST.
26. In King James Version (KJV) Bible
the word LEADER
appears only 3 times,
while the word SERVANT
was mentioned 502 times.
27. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ
Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in
advance for us to do.
29. 36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha; she
was always doing good and helping the poor…
37 about that time she became sick and died… 38 All
the widows stood around him, crying and showing him
the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made…
40 He said “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and
seeing Peter she sat up… 42 This became known all
over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
30. Tabitha is an example of always
serving others rather than
always serving self.
Her good testimony when Peter
raised her from dead, made
many believed in the Lord.
31. FAITHFUL IN SERVICE
• God has equipped us
• You love what you do
• You do it for the benefit of others
32. 8 And God is able to make all grace [every favor and
earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that
you may always [under all circumstances, regardless
of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything
[being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an
abundance for every good work and act of charity.
33. WE ARE SAVED NOT JUST TO
SERVE BUT TO BECOME
SERVANTS.
34.
35. When we only choose to SERVE
we often remain in charge of who,
when, why, where and how we will
serve. This limits our service and
also makes it possible to feel
manipulated and used by others.
36. When we choose to be SERVANT
we give up the right to be in charge
of those factors. There are no
limits to our service to Christ.
37. THE ATTITUDE OF BEING A
SERVANT IS BORN OF PURE
MOTIVES AND RESULTS IN
UNCONDITIONAL SERVICE IN
JESUS CHRIST.
38. A True Faithful Service resonates,
reflects and promotes
Jesus Christ.
41. 17 Now Jesse said to his son David, “Take this ephah
of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for
your brothers and hurry to their camp. 18 Take along
these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit.
See how your brothers are and bring back some
assurance from them.
43. A Faithful Servant does not look on
the size (little or great) of his
service but believes every work is
precious in the sight of God –
for His glory and benefit of others.
45. 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the
hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his
disciples, saying to them, 30 “Go to the village ahead
of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied
there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and
bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you
untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”
49. 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer
clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5
After that, he poured water into a basin and began to
wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel
that was wrapped around him.
51. Jesus Christ, Son of God, Living Water,
Lamb of God, True Vine, Bread of Life,
Light of the world, Living Stone, King of
Glory, Prince of Peace, Great High Priest,
Righteous Judge, Chosen One,
King of kings and Lord of lords, --
Alpha and Omega, Our Redeemer –
kneels and washes the feet of the disciples.
52. When Jesus Christ washed the
disciples feet He set the standard
for Christian service.
53. We should be willing to serve others
because the One who is greater
than all of us was willing to make
His whole life a service for us.
54. 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served,
but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for
many.”
55. A Faithful Servant imitates Jesus
Christ who did not simply provide
the ultimate service but became
the Ultimate Servant out of His
unconditional love and
great humility.
56.
57. 31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do
it all for the glory of God.
58. 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm.
Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to
the work of the Lord, because you know that your
labor in the Lord is not in vain.
