Diabetes is a leading cause of non-traumatic amputation worldwide, with 80% being preventable. Ebers is developing smart insoles for diabetic patients equipped with pressure, humidity, and temperature sensors, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. The insoles detect atypical walking patterns and pressure risks and alert the patient via a smartphone app. Medical data from the insoles is uploaded to a web platform where doctors can monitor patients' histories and provide recommendations to prevent amputations. Future versions aim to incorporate machine learning to detect long-term risks and automatically notify doctors and families.
