1. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
Maslow’s theory is that to achieve self actualization you have to work your way up from the
bottom of the pyramid and be satisfied with all of the individual levels to reach the top. There
are lots of things people want and need in life, basic needs are physiological so people can’t
physically survive without breathing, food, water etc. When people wish for things it is
normally objects such as ipad’s, new phones although these objects aren’t going to be able to
help people achieve self actualization, however if they were to wish to get into University etc.
this would help them achieve the esteem/achievement stage. If I had to consider three things
that I couldn’t live without I originally said my mobile phone, my dogs and my family. My family
and dogs would come under love and belonging, but my phone doesn’t help me to achieve self
actualization.
