2. My Grandad was born in 1934 in Bradford in England
He is now 80 years old. His birthday was last week
He started going to school aged 3 ½ years old
Boys went to Boys School - Girls went to Girls School
He had to get 2 buses to get to school across town
He started going to school in 1938 just before the war.
They did not have school uniforms. During the war
they could not get extra clothes.

3. In the olden days there were no computers to work on,
boys worked on a small blackboard and used chalk
My Grandad shared a desk with a friend
He did Maths and English same as us, he also did
woodwork and liked building things.
All his teachers were ladies,
the men had gone into the
army for the war

4. My Grandad did swimming so that he would not
drown in the local rivers.
He played Cricket in the evening after school or on
Saturday.

5. My Grandad liked building things so much he became
an Engineer.
He worked for the company David Browne, who
owned Aston Martin cars.
