6. Administrative Considerations for All
Students
School based teams (including IEP, 504 plan or EL teams as
appropriate) may determine if any student requires any of the
following test administration considerations, regardless of the
student’s status as a student with a disability or English learner:
– Small group testing
– Frequent breaks
– Time of day
– Separate or alternate location
– Specified area or seating
– Adaptive and specialized equipment, furniture, or lighting
Please note: IEP, 504 and EL teams may still wish to document this in a student’s
IEP, 504 plan, or EL plan based on individual needs.

13. Accommodations for Students with
Disabilities
Accommodations must be identified and documented as part
of the IEP/504 or ELL
• See Personal Needs Profile (PNP) template handout packet
• There are 5 types of Accommodations:

2. Presentation
3. Response
4. Unique
5. Emergency
14. Accommodations for Students with
Disabilities: Timing and Scheduling
Extended Time
Students get extended time accommodation and may have until the end of
the school day to complete as a test session. It is recommended to test
students with extended time accommodations in a separate setting to
minimize distractions for all students, and to schedule these students for
testing in the morning so their testing time can be extended until the end of
the school day, if needed.

17. Unique and Emergency
Accommodations
• Unique
17
• If a student with a disability or an English learner requires an
accommodation that is not listed in the PARCC Accessibility Features and
Accommodations Manual, and does not change the construct being
measured by the test, the school may request approval for use of the
accommodation.
• Emergency
• If the principal (or designee) determines that a student requires an
emergency accommodation on the day of the PARCC test, a form must be
completed and maintained in the student’s assessment file. No state
approval is required for emergency accommodations.
18. Assistive Technology
• Some students with disabilities (with IEPs or 504 plans) may need to bring
18
assistive technology to equitably access the PARCC Test.
• For current guidance on assistive technology for the PARCC Field Test, please
refer to the posted guidelines on PARCConline.org.

Editor's Notes
Remind staff that this test has been created in order to provide features so that all students regalrless of ability have access to the tools they use on a daily basis!!
The Manual details a three-tiered process of providing access to the assessments for all students:
Features for All Students: Tools embedded in the computer-delivered system available to all students to use (e.g. font magnification, highlighting tool, bolding, underlining)
Accessibility Features (identified in advance): Tools embedded in the computer-delivered system open to all students to use, but must be made available at the discretion of school-based educators (e.g. background/font color)
Accommodations: Supports for students with disabilities and English learners that increase access while maintaining a valid and reliable score (e.g. braille form, extended time, word-to-word native language dictionary)
Many settings that were once considered accommodations are now considered accessibility features for all students and will be included in the test administrator manual. Detailed guidelines on the administration of the PARCC assessments will be included in the PARCC Test Administration Manual.
NOTE THAT ALL of these should already be documented in the IEP and/or considered as part of a domain.
Refer to handout of the PNP and decision making tool
NOTE THAT ALL of these should already be documented in the IEP and/or considered as part of a domain.
For a small group of students, expected to be only 1% of special ed students…talk to SPED facilitators..will get training later in year.
