1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media product
and why?
2. Hollywood film industries
There are 3 types of film industries :
Hollywood industries such as
Fox, Paramount, Sony, Disney, Universal & Time
Warner, are the main media institutions are responsible
for the majority of the market share in America and
Canada. Sony produces 17%, Times Warner produce
15.4%, Disney produce 14.3% and Fox produce 10.6%.
3. British film industries
The 2nd type of film industry :
British get their money from other companies e.g.
BFI, Film 4, Film Culture, BBC, The lottery & private
investors. British films are less common than
Hollywood industries because they have more home
grown stars. They also have to travel to film fests
around the world to get their film noticed.
4. Local film industries
The 3rd type of film industry :
Local industries have to travel to go to film fests to get
their film noticed by distributors, because they contain
home grown stars and they often have a low budget.
They also appeal to a UK audience. Local film industries
also have cheap production values.
5. What film industry would distribute
FYF?
The film industry that I think would distribute FYF, are
local industries. I think this because they have a low
budget, similar to what we had, and also they contain
home grown stars.
In our thriller opening the production company we
used was “CANDI STUDIOS”. Because this is a smaller
independent company. This would be best suited to
distribute our film.
