This document provides instructions for students taking an oral exam at the EOI (Escuela Oficial de Idiomas). It outlines the two parts of the exam - a presentation and interaction section. Students must come to the classroom in pairs to pick presentation topics, then are given time to prepare while other students present. The oral exam consists of each student presenting for 3 minutes on their topic while their partner listens. Next is an interaction section where students have prepared different roles on the same topic and conduct a conversation for 3-4 minutes. When finished, students leave without asking questions and later receive their exam results.

1. HOW TO TAKE YOUR ORAL EXAM
AT THE EOI
REMEMBER:
0. There are two parts: presentation and interaction. You need to go into the
classroom in pairs.
1. The oral exams are recorded on the computer.
EXAM PREPARATION IN THE CLASSROOM:
2. You pick TWO presentation cards and the teacher will tell you the topics of
them, then you choose and the teacher gives you ONE interaction card.
3. While the previous pair of students speak, you sit at the back of the class to
prepare your exams, presentation and interaction, individually (10’appr.)
4. Read your cards carefully and prepare an OUTLINE (bring your pen), but
remember you can’t read all the time during the exam!
5. The next pair of students come into the classroom and prepare their exams
until the teacher calls them.
THE ORAL EXAM STARTS:
6. You and your partner sit opposite the teacher when she calls you.
7. When the teacher tells you, you say your full name, and your partner says
his/her full name, too, for the recording.
THE PRESENTATION:
8. Student A talks about his/her topic for 3 minutes. Student B has to pay
attention to his/her colleague because he/she may be asked some questions.
9. Then Student B talks about his/ her topic for 3 minutes. Student A has to
pay attention to his/her colleague because he/she may be asked some questions.
10. The students don’t need to talk ABOUT ALL OF THE ITEMS IN THE
CARD. These are only ideas for you to organize your talk.
THE INTERACTION:
11. Student A and B have prepared the same interaction topic, but they have
different roles.
12. They have prepared them separately.
13. Student A is always first to speak. Then, conversation starts, and they speak
for
about 3 or 4 minutes (it depends on the level).
END OF THE EXAM:
15. When the teacher says “thank you very much”, the exam has finished.

2. 16. The students stand up and leave the classroom. You can’t ask the teacher
about
the exam. You will see your exam results on “Revision Day”.
